Many Hands, One Mason!
January 20, 2019
Dear Mason Families,
I hope this message finds you enjoying your three day weekend! There is no school Monday Jan. 21st due to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and it is a wonderful time to honor the Life and Legacy of Dr. King! Please take a moment to read some of his most popular quotes below with your child. I am inspired that MLK's work continues to be relevant in the world today.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
The time is always right to do what is right.
In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of education.
Our students look to us (educators, parents, guardians, grandparents, family members and community members) to continue to model equality, equity, kindness, accountability, acceptance, patience, love and peace. Let's pledge to continue to make not only Mason better but our world better by showing Empathy for ALL, speaking up for what is right and choosing above all to be kind. Be kind to ourselves when we fall short of our goals! Be kind to others as everyone is going through personal battles that many will never know! Be kind when it is easy! Be kind when it is hard! Most importantly, let's all just pledge just to BE KIND!
Thanks for your support and we hope your three day weekend is amazing,
Roy Bishop, Jr.
