Semester 1 is done! Semester 2 is up and running with many successes! We have major focus on being Rowdy Rams! We have a lot of intention on using formal and appropriate language and passing classes and participating responsibly in class. Please check out this newsletter for dates regarding conferences, scholarships for seniors, CTE/EFA, and WorkForce Wednesdays!

Message from Counselor, Mrs. Stanton
1. Career Connect Open House
Learn more about all the CTE/EFA/EMC programs available at KRESA's annual open house events. Sophomores and Juniors will attend Career Connect presentations on February 5. (Flyer linked below)
2. Application for 24-25 CTE/EFA Classes
In order to take CTE/EFA classes next year, students will need to fill out an application. The application does need to be completed in one setting and will time-out after three hours.1. Go to the CTE/EFA online application and login using the information below:
a. Username: hsstudent
b. Password: #Kresa10
c. Choose your high school from the drop-down list.
2. Upon submission:
a. An email will be sent to the parent/guardian provided, with a link to approve the application.
b. Student is logged out and will receive a confirmation email.
c. The application will be reviewed by your high school counselor for consideration. Please keep in mind that neither the application nor parent/guardian approval guarantees enrollment in the course selected. If you have further questions please reach out to Mrs. Stanton. bethany.stanton@garams.org
3. WorkForce Wednesday in the News!
Mrs. O'Donnell and Mrs. Stanton along with partners from KRESA and Youth Solutions presented about our WorkForce Wednesday at the 2024 Michigan Career Education Conference.4. Information Technology (IT) Industry Tour
Several 10th grade students participated in an industry tour of Kalamazoo RESA's Information Technology department. Participants rotated through several different IT sessions including networking, system administration, [programming, cyber security, and the help desk. The various pathways to a career in IT were discussed as well as the industry-recognized credentials that are available to high school students.
5. WMU College of Health and Human Services Tour
Several 10th grade students participated in an industry tour of Western Michigan University's College of Health and Human Services. Participants rotated through several different stations including physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, Peace Jam, vision, anatomage table, and nursing. Students also learned about the programs and degree options through WMU.
Have you Xello'd today? Challenge
Kaiden Keiser, Marquise Schanzenbaker, Arya Carpenter (not pictured), and Isabella Allen all received Biggby gift cards for participating in the Kalamazoo RESA, Career Connect Have you Xello'd today challenge. Students participate in Xello activities through WorkForce Wednesday lessons. Xello is an engaging college and career readiness software that helps students build self-knowledge, explore post-secondary options, create plans, and continually reassess as they take in new knowledge, skills, and experiences.
Senior Scholarships
Seniors please continue to check the scholarship list doc on the counseling website for more scholarship opportunities. If you need assistance with filling out scholarship applications please email or sign up for a time to meet with Mrs. Stanton.
CTE Construction Trades Class Student of the Month
Samantha Conklin has been awarded the Home Builders Association of Michigan Student of the Month for December 2023. Samantha has shown outstanding work and exceptional dedication in her CTE Construction Trades class. Congratulations!
