Micro Elementary School Newsletter
November 12th, 2018
I am hoping for a strong turnout for PBL Night. Please take extra steps in promoting this event with your students and parents. Let's try to make it a "can't miss" event. Think of creative ways that you can motivate students to want to attend. How can we inspire attendance?
Have a great week!

Micro Headlines
- Thank you everyone who helped out with Duty Free Lunch last week. It was a team effort.I hope everyone enjoyed the event as much as I did.
- Wednesday's Staff meeting will be our Book Study Kickoff. Bring your book!
- PBL Share Night is November 15th. This is another curriculum based night, not attached to a PTA meeting. We are referring to it as PBL "share" rather than "publish" because the night can feature any step in the PBL project you'd wish. The idea is to entice parents and students in for an exciting classroom event.
- PLC's this week will feature an introduction to the Learner Profile Microcredentialing process. Teams should also have time to continue planning their upcoming units and assessment design. We began this last week with math and look forward to seeing the process extend to reading, too.
- Micro True School Fellowship News: In the next few weeks, a small team of Micro Staff members will be conducting short, walkthrough observations during literacy instruction times. There is no need to alter your plans, we just wanted you to be aware. Also, as Mrs. Kerstetter's email mentioned. If you have student work samples that you feel exemplify our school wide goal of helping students develop a love of reading, please label them and place them in Rachel's box by November 14th. We will return the samples after the team has analyzed them.
- On November 20th @ 9:30 students who sold 3 or more items for the fundraiser will attend a brief assembly to tape Mr. Parrish to the wall. More information will come out soon. There will be a list of who attends. We will also hold the drawing for the Hoverboard and the Visa Gift Card for staff.
- Staff: There are members of our staff who have requested voluntary shared leave. If you are interested in donating any time to them, please see Mrs. Creech.
- Cafeteria News: Now that the free lunch period is over, we need all staff members to pitch in by reviewing over the low balance slips that to be placed in boxes each afternoon. Unfortunately, this is the best way from having to conserve school resources.
