NOTE FROM MRS. LOGAN
This week I had the opportunity to join Ms. Spark's class during their Morning Meeting time. They were asked to share something about school that they were proud of. Many of the students talked about their recent learning of the skill archery in PE class. They shared about what they looked like as archers at the start of their learning, many funny stories were exchanged about stray arrows landing everywhere but close to the target. They then talked about their current level of success, hitting the target and some even hitting the bullseye. The pride in their eyes shined bright.
Being part of this conversation highlighted for me that true internal pride only comes when we allow students they opportunity to have a productive struggle, the same is true for us as adults. It is when we overcome challenges that we understand the term PRIDE. The harder the challenge the greater the pride. As adults we often want to save those we love from those struggles, I know as a mom that is where I naturally go. We all must experience the missed target, reflect/refine, and improve our shot. The struggle is how we grow.
