Important Update

January 13, 2022

Dear BSD Staff & Families:

As you are all aware, the COVID-19 omicron variant is spreading quickly throughout our community. Like many school districts around the state, we are experiencing staff and substitute shortages due to quarantine, illness, and dwindling COVID testing supplies.

As you also know, our transportation department has been impacted which has led to the cancellation and combining of routes the past two weeks--something we know is hard on families. Canceling routes is always a last resort and we truly apologize for the frustration and inconvenience.

We are not expecting statewide school district closures that occurred in 2020. We are working hard to keep our schools open by following all COVID health and safety protocols. However, we will be prepared if a short-term closure of school(s), or a temporary switch to Connected Learning (online) is necessary.

We want to thank you all for your efforts to minimize the spread of COVID 19 by keeping kids home when they are sick, and for encouraging your student(s) to wear their masks properly and wash and/or sanitize their hands frequently.

We know the continued pandemic and uncertainty about school changes can be stressful for staff and families. We want to assure you that any changes to school schedules or format will be communicated to staff and families ASAP through all of the District’s normal communications channels.

Thank you for your continued support and patience while we continue navigating through very challenging times.

Sincerely,

Aaron Leavell, Ed.D.

Superintendent

Bremerton School District
