Welcome Back to School!!
Sequiota is an IGNiTE school and as a PTA we are also embracing the use of technology.
We will be providing the PTA newsletter electronically this year.
We are excited to see what this school year has in store for us and
we have no doubt it will be a great year for Sequiota Elementary!!
This newsletter is designed to be a resource to the parents and teachers of Sequiota
so if you have any comments, suggestions or questions
regarding the content in the newsletter please let me know!

Sequiota Fundraising Cards
The Sequiota Fundraiser Card
will run through Monday, September 10th.
The Sequiota Discount Cards are one of the largest fundraisers we do each year.
Money that is earned through this fundraiser provides funding for all of the various
PTA sponsored events and initiatives this year.
Fundraiser cards are $15 each and it includes great offers at local businesses!
The school goal is for each student to sell 3 cards.
The remaining collection dates are
Tuesday, September 4th
Thursday, September 6th
Friday, September 7th
and Monday, September 10th.

All Pro Dads Breakfast
Our first All Pro Dads Breakfast
is Thursday, September 20th from 7:30am-8:15am!!
Please join us in the APR for the annual kick-off of
our monthly All Pro Dad’s Breakfast.
Proud Time and a Positive Message ensures that your kids will LOVE having breakfast with you and the other Dads!!
Grandpas, uncles or any father figures are all welcome to bring their little Indian. This is the only Dads group at Sequiota Elementary so take advantage of the opportunity and show your child you care by simply showing up!
All Pro Dads is a recurring event on the
3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30am from
September through April (excluding December)

To get the year started, every year, we ask families, parents, business partners and teachers to join the PTA. Our goal is 100% participation to get everyone involved and join our wonderful community.

SCPTA Clothing Bank
The Springfield Council of PTAs Clothing Bank serves the needs of hundreds of students each year. All SPS students who qualify for the National Free & Reduced Lunch Program are eligible to shop at the Clothing Bank.
The Clothing Bank is located at 2343 W. Olive St.
Our own Sequiota PTA provides volunteers at the Clothing Bank one day each month and we need your help! Sign up to help sort donations, hang clothes on hangers, straighten the shopping floors, arrange clothes on the shopping racks, or help with projects during Sequiota's volunteer days.
Sequiota's first volunteer day is
Thursday, September 20th
between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
You can stay for an hour or all day - whatever works for you!

Pasta Express is one of our wonderful Business Partners
and they have graciously agreed to donate
a portion their sales back to Sequiota every
2nd Tuesday of the month
during the school year!
Class Competition
We will also be doing a class competition
for a specific grade level each month.
The class with the highest participation will win a
PASTA PARTY !!

Sequiota Student Directory
The Sequiota Student Directory is published each year and is available to students & families of Sequiota. The Directory will be produced and distributed electronically to everyone at no charge. The information will only be accessible to Sequiota families through a secure link and a password protected document. If you haven't already turned in your Information Sheet use the link below.
Please return your form by Monday, September 17th!
5th Grade Fall Mums Sale
Fall is right around the corner and what better way to get in the spirit
than purchasing beautiful mums from Wheeler Gardens!
Our 5th Grade will be selling vouchers to be redeemed at Wheeler’s through October. The expiration date will be stated on the voucher.
The jumbo 2-gallon hardy mums are $10 each.
Further information will be sent home in Friday folders.
Thanksgiving Pies
Brush off your pie plates and put on your aprons ...
or if you prefer to polish your credit card and call Village Inn...
that works too!! It's Pie Time again!!
Every teacher and staff member receives a pie to take home
on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving from the awesome parents here at Sequiota.
There will be a signup sheet at Open House but If you want to
beat the mad rush contact

Scholastic Fall Book Fair
Book Fair Dates:
Monday, September 24th - Friday, September 28th
Shopping Hours:
Students can shop before school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with a parent. The fair is also open after school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Each classroom also visits the fair two times during the school day.
Special Activities:
Grand Event – students invite their grandparents or any other special person in their life to eat breakfast at the fair and shop with them before school on
Tuesday, September 25 from 7:30am- 8:30am.
Open House – visit the fair as a family during Open House on
Thursday, September 27.
The book fair will be open from
5:00pm – 6:30pm
for families to shop together.

sign up to volunteer for PTA projects or events!!
Stay around after Open House for our first
General PTA Meeting which will begin at 6:00.
