April 28th, 2021- State Testing Information
Parent News - Desplazarse hacia abajo para Español
Dear South Meadows Families,
We are now into our second week of hybrid instruction and we are finding more and more ways to engage our students. For those who have been able to come in person, it has been great to see how much they've grown over the past year both academically and physically. Fortunately, our students who are learning from home, can still connect with their teachers each day, so we encourage students to reach out to their teachers if they need any help. Our teachers are available every afternoon for additional support so our students finish strong!
Speaking of growth, all schools are still required to offer state testing to their students this school year. Please review this letter with our testing information. We will prepare physically-distanced space for all students who come to take the test so it is very important we know if you are opting out. If we don't get an opt out form filled out from you, we will plan for your student to take the test. This is A LOT OF WORK on our end, so PLEASE let us know if we do not need to prepare for your student to come in person on a Wednesday afternoon to complete state testing by completing the form. Thank you!
Here is a summary of the testing details:
7th graders will test on Wednesday 5/26 in Language Arts and Math. We'll begin at 1:00 and end at 4:00. This should be enough time for students to finish. Busses will be coming if you need transportation. When we know their pick-up and drop-off times, we'll share that with you. If your child will not be taking the test this year at the time listed above, PLEASE fill out the form:

8th graders will test on Wednesday 6/2 in Math and Science. We'll begin at 1:00 and end at 4:00. This should be enough time for students to finish. Busses will be coming if you need transportation. When we know their pick-up and drop-off times, we'll share that with you. If your child will not be taking the test this year at the time listed above, PLEASE fill out the forms (8th graders have to fill out two forms to opt out because Science is from a different testing department):

We'll be sending out follow-up reminders over the next two weeks to fill out the opt out forms if you will NOT be having your student come to test this year as it will be very, very helpful to have an accurate count of students who will test. We are excited to see positive testing results for anyone that does come! Please let us know if you have any questions by contacting José Barraza at barrazaj@hsd.k12.or.us and we'll be sure to answer them for you. Thanks for your help in this matter as we prepare the best testing environment possible for our amazing students this year.
Thank you!

¡Gracias!
