Riddle Me This, Ms. Forkapa

Whole New World!

With over 130 staff members and 1300+ students, you can imagine how busy the main office can be each day. If you plan on picking your child up from school during the day, please call Debbie Cook at 572.7090 or simply send your child to school with a note that can be given to Mrs. Cook in the main office in the morning. When possible, please refrain from coming into the school to pick up your child unannounced. Also, if you child is like my 8th grader, he often forgets things at the house (lunch box, sports uniform). If you are bringing something up to the school for your child, simply leave it with either Mrs. Cook or Mrs. Vargo in the main office. They will get it to your child shortly after. We do not pull students out of class to come down to the main office to get the item as it takes away from instructional time and leads to unnecessary congestion in the main office.

If issues arise with your child at school and you would like to speak with someone to address the matter, please contact your child's grade level administrator:

  • Kelli Izzo- 6th Grade 572.7086
  • Mike Vukovich- 7th/8th Grade 572.7078

If there are issues that require my immediate attention, please do not hesitate to contact me a 572.7085.

Thank you, parents, for all of your support and communication here at begin this school year. Effective communication between parents and teachers is key to student success.

Middle school can be quite a transition for both students and parents, as they grow to become more independent. It is great to see so many students transitioning smoothly here at SMS. There are many students whose parents may have thought this change would have been more difficult than it has been. Children adapt well to a change in environment and are quite resilient. They often surprise us adults. It really is fantastic to see!

New Traffic Pattern: Beginning Tuesday 9/6

Beginning Tuesday, Sept 6, pickup and drop off will look much different at SMS. Parents who are dropping off/picking up their children will no longer enter the north parking lot. The North lot is exclusively for busing and event parking. Here are the guidelines for parent drop off/pickup:

  • Parents will drop off and pick up in the south parking lot.
  • You will ONLY enter at the traffic light at Pearl.
  • Immediately after pulling into the lot, turn left into the south lot. Please be mindful of the buses who may be crossing your path to exit. While you will have the right of way entering the parking lot (buses have a stop sign), please take caution.
  • Stay curb side all the way until you reach the building and drop off/pick up your child. There will be staff out in the lot directing you where to go.

This lot will also be used for teacher and visitor parking so, it is imperative that the inside lane is left accessible for those moving through the parking lot. Please refer to the map below. Traffic will move counterclockwise and exit at the same location as the entrance. Please be mindful as buses will merge with cars to exit the lot at the traffic light. This is going to take some time for people to grow accustom to so, please be patient with other motorists, walkers, staff and buses as we work through an efficient and effective system. Please remember that the north lot WILL NOT BE USED for pick up or drop off. It is designated for buses only.

Online Forms

Linked to your student's PASS account is a system called INFOSNAP. This allows you to fill out your child's emergency medical information and other necessary forms (acceptable use policy, lunch forms, etc) online. Please fill these forms out and submit them electronically. Make sure you submit more than one contact person and phone number on your emergency medical card. As of Monday afternoon, all PASS accounts will be turned on in order to view schedules. If you account is inaccessible, perhaps there is a fee balance that is still due from last school year.

Here is a brief video demonstrating the process.
