2015-2016 Mission Statement

As members of Ballardville, we recognize that each student in ASPIRE is unique and different in his or her own way. We promise to:

  • help each other learn and excel as a group in class;
  • be kind, respectful, and responsible to our teacher, each other, our classroom, and ourselves;
  • have a positive attitude, follow the Golden Rule, and make sure everyone feels like they fit in;
  • put aside our differences and cooperate with each other respectfully;
  • show kindness in and out of the classroom and treat others with care.

We expect our teacher to challenge us in a way that will help each of us excel in our learning. We like to be challenged and to think outside the box.

Our personal expectations are to be respectful and responsible. We will encourage others to be helpful and not hurtful. We will pull each other up when in need, and will help each other improve.

Success Ceremony May 31st 8:00 AM

We hope you plan to join us on Tuesday, May 31st for our Success Ceremony. Students will walk across the stage in the cafeteria and their favorite award, as well as something they are proud of from the year, will be shared. I'm so proud of how they have grown socially and academically this year!

**Please note that this date is different than what was on the original school calendar. This is due to the bad weather make-up day that we did not use.**

Toga Party Celebration

As a recognition of our Math Olympians, we celebrate with a toga party. Students are invited to bring a

toga

if they wish to put on for this math class celebration.

Togas can be a sheet, tablecloth, even a vinyl tablecloth and must be worn OVER clothing. They are not required but are fun!

Please DO NOT WEAR the toga to school.

All School Celebration

The All School Celebration is an annual tradition at Glenhope. Fun events are planned for the day for students to enjoy as we celebrate the school year. Some of you have asked if this is an event you need to attend. You don't need to plan to attend as this is a celebration just for students.

Yearbooks!

If you didn't pre-order a yearbook and would like one, Glenhope has some extras available for sale. Yearbooks are $35, and checks can be made out to Glenhope Elementary. Please know that although there are some extras, they are limited. They are given out on a first-come,

first-serve

basis.

Bathing Suit Donations

The daughter of Jayne WIlliky (kindergarten teacher at Glenhope) will be working at a camp for homeless children this summer. They are in need of bathing suits for the campers, ages 6-14. The bathing suits do not have to be new, so if you have any at your home that your children have outgrown, please consider donating them. They need all different sizes, even adult sizes would work. You can send them to school any time before the last day. I know they would appreciate your help if you are able.

Parr Park Field Trip

We had a great time on our field trip to Parr Park this week! We actually caught a break in the weather!

Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered, it is very much appreciated!

ASPIRATIONS- A Collection of Student Works

Each year, we publish and professionally bind a collection of our class writing and artwork into a paperback book through an online service. Students will be choosing pieces that they feel show great improvement, exceptional writing, and creativity. Art will be scanned into PDFs for publication. I will transfer all work to the publication format, create a table of contents and index, and submit to print. The books should arrive the last week of school so students can sign each other's books and enjoy them with friends. You will be able to purchase as many copies of this publication as you wish. The cost is usually around $6 but I will have the final cost and an order form soon.
