NR Teacher of the Week: Rory Tubbs

Mrs. Rory Tubbs used her web camera to provide meaning to informational text and content vocabulary. This was unscripted – she saw the need for clarification and improvised. This lesson was created by the MVCA 4th grade team, aligning Common Core standards with the OLS coursework students are completing. Check out a 3 minute clip here:

Grade Level Standards:

  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.4.4 - Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.4.10 - By the end of year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, in the grades 4-5 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
