Picnic with Penguins - Friday, January 25
Sponsored by the D.A.D.S. Group, “Picnic with Penguins” is an opportunity for all parents to come enjoy lunch with their students on campus. Some parents bring lunch from local restaurants and some bring lunch from home. Here is the lunch schedule by grade:
11:15 - 11:45 am Transitional Kindergarten (TK/TKP)
12:00 - 12:40 pm 4th & 5th grades
12:20 - 1:00 pm 2nd & 3rd grades
12:40 - 1:20 pm Kindergarten & 1st grades
1. Because of the large numbers of parents visiting campus, parents are asked to sign in at the front gate rather than funnel through the office. Signing out is not required.
2. Please observe all traffic and parking regulations on and adjacent to campus. Absolutely no parking is allowed in the school parking lot as this is used for staff only.
3. Please do not take food onto the playground areas, and please dispose of all trash properly.
Jog-a-thon 2019 Coming Soon!
“What is Jog-a-thon?” you ask? It is a fun 20 minute run around the P.E. track as parents and teachers cheer on the students and often run alongside them. As we celebrate heart health in February, the Foundation is also raising money to keep programs like Science, PE, Art, Music, and Technology at Park Village.
Next Friday, January 25, your child will be bringing home a Jog-a-thon packet with an envelope attached. In the packet, you will see a Donation form, a Prizes and Incentives sheet, and a FAQ sheet explaining the Jog-a-thon in detail. Online Jog-a-thon donations will be accepted through our Foundation website.
In the meantime, start thinking about who you can count on to support your child in the Jog-a-thon! Stay tuned for next week’s Penguin Newsletter, where we will talk about donations, prizes and the BIG SCHOOL-WIDE INCENTIVE that has become a tradition of the Jog-a-thon.

Thank You to Our Friend of the Foundation: San Diego Children's Dentistry
The Park Village Foundation Would Like to Recognize San Diego Children's Dentistry as a 2018-2019 Friend of the Foundation.
An introduction from our Friend:
Hello. It's nice to meet you. At San Diego Children's Dentistry, we know that happy smiles start with healthy mouths. We are a modern, family-friendly pediatric dental clinic, specialized in dentistry just for kids. Our office is designed with kids and families in mind. It is it designed to feel like an extension of your home and not like a regular doctor’s office. From the homey living room lobby, to the iPads and TVs above the chairs, and even the comfortable treatment benches where kids can relax while they receive treatment, your children will feel right at home.
Prevention is the best defense. We will teach your children the importance of being healthy, starting with their mouths. A healthy mouth begins with the right diet and finishes with good oral hygiene techniques. We want to help your family establish the best habits from the earliest age. We will answer your questions about healthy snacks, fluoride use, brushing, flossing, and anything else you want to talk about.
We are excited to support Park Village Foundation and all the amazing programs it enables. Dr. Frandsen’s own children are Park Village Penguins and love the science, art, music, and all that PVF makes happen throughout the school year. We are proud to help in any way to make the foundation successful in enriching the education of the Park Village student body.
Please check out our website to find out what we’re all about at San Diego Children’s Dentistry. There is also a very useful FAQ page about dental questions for kids, like: what causes cavities, will my child need braces, what are dental sealants, and more!

Donations for Door of Faith Orphanage in Mexico
One of the Student Council's service projects this year is to help Door of Faith Orphanage gather supplies for orphaned children and communities in need. Door of Faith Orphanage is located in La Mision, Baja California, Mexico. For over 50 years Door of Faith has served orphaned children and the poorer communities in that area. They are one of the largest orphanages in Baja. They are supported by community organizations and churches from the US. They can use our help to get more supplies for the orphanage. Please donate DIAPERS and LAUNDRY DETERGENT from January 14 to February 7. Bring your donations to the bins provided by the front office and by the ESS building.
