Hello, South Families.

We had a great first week of school! It has been great to have all of our Bici Bears back in the classrooms. Teachers have jumped right in with their instruction. Over the next few weeks, all students will be participating in a variety of assessments. This data will allow our teachers to make data driven decisions regarding their instruction and know students' areas of strength and where support is needed.


A reminder that students should not be arriving to school prior to 7:45 a.m. There is no supervision before that time. We appreciate your cooperation with this.


It was great to see so many of our students participating in our first spirit day by wearing their Level Up shirts. Check out the pictures below.

Reporting Student Absences

Reporting Student Absences

Daily school attendance creates good habits for children and has a positive impact on student learning. It is also the law. GESD implements a truancy suppression program, C.U.T.S., in partnership with Maricopa County Juvenile Courts. A letter explaining about this program is attached. It will also be sent home with your child on the first day of school.


All student absences must be reported. You may email Mrs. Sanchez at msanchez@gesd40.org or you may call our attendance line, 623.237.5208

Coffee Talk

Mark you calendars! The first Coffee Talk of the school year will be held on Friday, August 27 at 8:15 a.m. in the library. Come and join the Principals of Bicentennial North and South. This will be an important year of collaboration with all of our stakeholders as we prepare to transition our two schools into one K-8 school for the 2022-2023 school year.
