What's Happening This Week!
What a great trip to the zoo! Thank you to all of our chaperones!
Our 2nd Grade End of the Year Picnic will be Thursday, June 2. With our new no-food policy, students are asked to bring their own sack lunches and drinks. We will eat outside (picnic-style). A permission slip has be sent home to allow your child to walk to the 63rd Street park to enjoy games and play time. These are due back, Friday, May 27th.
Tissue- The end is near we know, but we are in need of tissue boxes. Just a few! Thank you!

What are we Learning?
Reading - We are continuing our unit on Animals. This week we will read NF texts about Sharks and Dolphins. Students will review text features and check their understanding through many AR tests on the animal books we read.
Phonics/Spelling - Unit 17: consonant -le words
Please work on the phonics homework with your child. It definitely helps them when we take our Unit tests.
Trick Words (Unit 17): trouble, couple, young
Math - Students will work with arrays to create repeated addition sentences. If time permits, we will begin to explore turning these sentences into multiplication equations. We will also continue to review addition and subtraction with/without regrouping this week. Our final math facts grade for report cards assesses this skill.
Writing/Science- This week students will study animal life cycles. We will read many books about animal life cycles and practice diagramming these cycles. We will continue to work on our individual animal research projects as well.
