THANK YOU Owl families for another outstanding raffle and Boo Bash! Despite many challenges along the way, we had a very successful and FUN event on Friday. We are grateful to everyone who helped to make it a safe night for all involved and special thanks to everyone who volunteered - we could not do it without you!

As we revealed at the Boo Bash, we hit an all-time high with our fundraising, which is simply amazing! That money will be put to good use directly affecting all students at Oakley Park throughout the year. We also had 82% of the student body participate in selling raffle tickets, so thank you again for the support at home!

The PTA fundraising is done for the year, but there is still a lot going on at the school! Join us for our first in-person PTA meeting in almost 2 years this Monday, NOVEMBER 1 at 7:00 in the OPE Media Center. We will also attempt to zoom the meeting for those unable to attend in person. More info will be sent out via email on Monday, or you can check it out at OakleyParkPTA.com/meetings

We will have some quick PTA business and hear from Mrs. Froning on a new approach to support the social/emotional need of our school community called RULER.

- Jessica Maurer, OPE PTA President

If a member of your household tests positive for COVID we strongly recommend a self-quarantine from last date of close contact, however WLCSD is not currently issuing quarantines. Thank you for taking the necessary steps to help ensure the health and safety of our entire learning community.

If a student tests positive for COVID, they will be isolated for a minimum of 10 calendar days based on the recommendations from the OCHD. All families in that classroom will receive a letter regarding the positive case. The letter also reminds recipients to monitor their child's health closely and if he/she begins experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, stay home, consult your medical provider and get tested for COVID-19.

We continue to urge all families to check your child's health daily and make decisions that will keep our community healthy and safe. Please check for the following symptoms:

  • Headache Sore throat
  • Congestion
  • Runny Nose

If your child has any of these symptoms, please err on the side of caution and keep them home until their symptoms subside. We appreciate your partnership as we continue to work together to keep our community healthy and safe! Health and Safe!

UPDATED: Mask Reminder

You may have learned that the Michigan Legislator questioned the Oakland County Health Division’s Mask Mandate based on the recent Michigan Budget Bill. Provided, the Governor’s statement and in consultation with our attorney, we are required to uphold the OCHD’s Mask Mandate. Moving forward, the mask criteria as of the beginning of this school year will remain in place. If the Governor or the OCHD make further changes in the future, we will communicate in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, this update is also reflected in our FAQs, available to all parents.

Due to this OCHD mandate, the following protocols are required:

  • Masks are required in all of our schools and facilities.
  • Masks are required on our buses.
  • Masks are not required outside (ex. recess).
  • Masks are not required while eating or drinking.
  • Mask Breaks: Please note that teachers will take their classes outside for periodic mask breaks throughout the school day.

Water Bottles: Please remember to send your child to school with a reusable, plastic water bottle. Our drinking fountains are closed. Refilling stations are still open.
