END OF THE YEAR INFORMATION
WIth the end of the year only 8 days away we wanted to share information concerning the last week of school. As usual students will be taking finals in their last few days. With that being said, there a few things you should talk with your student about. Below is important information concerning the final days of school.
LOCKER CLEAN OUT AND USE:
Monday the 21st and Tuesday the 22nd students will begin to declutter and clean their lockers. During this time students should begin bringing home extra supplies, coats, jackets, lunch boxes, and the other things that you've been asking your student about all year. On Wednesday, the 23rd, students WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR LOCKERS. Any items left in the lockers after Tuesday can be claimed on the 24th or the 25th from 8:00 am to 2:00 PM. After these dates items left in the lockers will be donated to SPARC and East students in need.
FINALS SCHEDULE
The schedule attached is intended to provide parents with insight into the finals schedule for then end of this school year. If you have any questions please email your students teacher directly.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: MUST READ FOR THE 8th GRADE SEMI-FORMAL ATTENDANCE
Student Council is hosting an 8th grade Semi-Formal Masquerade Ball on Friday, May 18th from 6:00-8:00PM. Tickets may be purchased during 8th grade lunch, May 15th-18th for $3. Please be aware that any student earning a referral May 15th-May 18th will not be permitted to the dance. At the door students will be given a mask per the Masquerade Ball theme, but students can feel free to purchase or design their own masks. Awards will be given to the most original masks. Also, those in attendance will be allowed to pick up their yearbooks early, and have them signed at an autograph booth at the dance.
There will be a modified dress code for the dance that evening. All dresses must meet the fingertip rule. The student's dress must come to the student's finger tips when the student has their arms down to their side. All dresses must also have straps that are two finger wide width. A sweater or shawl must be used to cover the students’ shoulders if this rule is not met. No clothing revealing bare midriffs will be allowed. All shirts must be able to be tucked in. Clothing which reveals undergarments, is studded, has spikes, or chained are all prohibited. Hats may be worn at the dance. All other dress code expectations will remain the same as outlined in our student handbook. All students will be checked for compliance to the dress code prior to entering the dance per school staff. Violations will not be permitted inside the event. If you have any questions about the dress code for the dance, please direct those questions to Assistant Principal, Mr. Smith, robert.smith@ftcsc.k12.in.us.
If you are parent looking to volunteer for the Semi-Formal please again contact Mr. Smith so he can put you on the volunteer list. Again, mark your calendar for Friday, May 18th. Be sure to come join other Flashes and
take selfies with peers at the photo booth or just chill with friends. It will be a great night and YOU don’t want to miss it!
Notice of Medication in the Clinic—May 2018: Pick up by parent
As the school year draws to a close, please be aware that if your student has medication in the clinics, a parent must transport it home. Medication will not be released from the clinic unless a parent takes it home. Empty prescription bottles will be sent home with the student. Students with doctor’s orders to carry emergency medication will be allowed to carry the items home, as FT procedure allows.
If your student has any type of over-the-counter medication that is not used frequently, please come into the school to pick it up before the last day.
If your child must take a prescription medication at school, please arrange to pick up the prescription by end of the day on Wednesday, May 23rd. Any medication remaining after the end of the school day will be destroyed unless you have called the nurse in advance. The nurse is not in attendance over the summer. Thank you for your cooperation and support of student safety.
