For IndyPL Axis 360 Community Share Users
Greetings!
So many of you are at different points in your connection with Axis 360 that it seemed like a general information flyer might be helpful. Scan the titles to see what info you need, save the rest for reference later. Feel free to share the whole Axis Connections with your colleagues, or select snippets to pass along.
How is Axis 360 Community Share Different from Axis 360 with IndyPL?
Kids: https://indyplkids.axis360.baker-taylor.com/
Teens: https://indyplteens.axis360.baker-taylor.com/
Combined kids and teens: http://indypl.axis360.baker-taylor.com/
Those IndyPL books are available to all Community Share sites. There are another 1,200 titles with 2,600 copies available in a Shared Pool. The Shared Pool is how schools share books with other schools.
We’ve used grant money to purchase multiple copies of a small number of classroom-type titles. Two more grants to buy books for the Shared Pool are being reviewed.
Schools that join Axis 360 Community Share often transfer all the ebooks they own directly into the Shared Pool. All members of Community Share are expected to purchase ebooks and share them with others after the immediate need at their school/district has been met.
Districts should purchase books and put them in the district pool to be shared among all schools in the district.
The difference is the ability to share several thousand more books among schools. Looking up a book on an IndyPL site will not show you the total number of copies available to students at your school. You must look at your school site to see that.
How Do I Find My Site, and See Everyone Else's Site?
You can use one of the Pick-a-Library sites below:
Decatur Twp Schools http://dtsd.axis360.baker-taylor.com
IPS Schools https://ipsd.axis360.baker-taylor.com/Consortia/PickLibrary
Lawrence Twp Schools http://ltnss.axis360.baker-taylor.com/

How Does Axis 360 Know My Students' Login?
- Decatur Township elementary and middle school students login with their Canvas username and password. This information is uploaded by their IT department.
- IPS Schools (except Arsenal Tech and Shortridge high schools) login with Clever as a single sign on.
- Lawrence Township schools login with Clever's full synchronization. This allows their teachers to reserve books and create reports on student reading time.
- Students at Arsenal Tech, Decatur Central and Shortridge high schools, and all other schools not included above, login with their library cards, which their school library managers have uploaded for them.
My Teacher Wants a Classroom Set of...
Not that every student would want to! Most of the books are informational texts, so great for a teacher to assign everyone a biography, or to use to demonstrate how to read non-fiction. There are plenty of classics, though.
Note these loaned copies will expire on Oct. 31st.
To get a sense of what's available for your teachers and students, go to your school URL. Click on the hamburger menu in the upper left corner and select Featured Lists. There are more than ten lists of simultaneous use titles we think your teachers might want students to see - and they are at the very end of the list of Featured Lists.
You will also see a list of titles with 30 or more copies available, and another with three or more copies available. (These lists will grow as more schools transfer their ebook collections to share with other Community Share schools.)
Note: the lists of books with multiple copies do not appear on IndyPL sites, only on school sites.
See What You Want to See!
To find out how, step by step, check out this instructional video: https://bakerandtaylor.force.com/axis360admin/s/article/Site-Scoping
Your sites should be "pre-scoped" based on your schools' grade levels. Publishers don't always send us the correct audience information, though. In those cases, you can choose to include or exclude title by title.
Check your Lists
The selection librarians recently updated both the Rosewater and Young Hoosier Book Award Lists. Janet Spaulding, children's selector added a list about Suffragettes and another called "Let's Talk about Race." Our teen selection librarian added two more: Folklore Retellings From Around the World and Journey to a New Land. Depending on your school's grade level you may or may not see all of these lists.
Under the Hood
You can create new lists or hide existing lists. You can also see reports to find out how much students at your school are reading, and what's most popular.
There's a lot to learn about Axis 360. The Help Site helps!
