Barnes & Noble Book Fair
Save the date! Dec. 11 from 6:00-8:30pm. There will be a volunteer sign up sheet in the lounge this week. I'm looking for help with the welcome table, gift wrapping (not at the same table this year), cupcake decorating, and bookmark making. Volunteers will be entered into a raffle for some fabulous prizes including extra library time (extra break for you) and Spring Book Fair gift certificates. The event is a great fundraiser for the library and is an all around fun event. If you can't help out during the fair, consider doing some holiday shopping that night to support the library.
Hour of Code
I'm so excited about all of the activities for Hour of Code! Dec. 7-13 is the official week of Hour of Code sponsored by code.org. However, in order to fit in as many classes as I can, I will be doing coding activities with classes during the month of December. Be sure to sign up for a time in the lounge! Mrs. Lozano's class was the first to do Hour of Code with me! The kids had a blast! Even if you do not pick a special time for Hour of Code, all of the classes will be doing some sort of coding activity with me during library time.
Tibbott Review Crew
Thank you to all of the classroom teachers who submitted names for the new Tibbott Review Crew! When I get in large orders of new books, The Review Crew will have "dibs" on the new books. They will read one of the new books, and with my help create a video review of the book they read. A QR code will be created for the review. A selfie with the book and the QR code will be taped in the inside cover of the book for other readers to see when the book goes into the regular collection for checkout. My Scholastic order from the Fall Book Fair arrived just before Thanksgiving. Once I get the books labeled, the Review Crew will be called to the library to begin their first review!
New Books
I'm really excited about these new books in the Tibbott Library:
Chapter books:
Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan
The Marvels by Brian Selznick
The Way to Stay in Destiny by Augusta Scattergood
A Handful of Stars by Cynthia Lord
Stella by Starlight by Sharon Draper
Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate
Picture Books:
Little Tree by Loren Long
Click Clack Ho! Ho! Ho! by Doreen Cronin
Little Red's Riding 'Hood by Peter Stein
I have also purchased about 20 listening center packs - 1cd and 4 paperback books.
Coloring Contest from Calliope Games
Do you like to color? Do you like win games? Then you might love the new coloring contest sponsored by game publisher, Calliope Games. All entries are due Dec. 20th and you have a chance to win a signed copy of the game called The Twelve Days of Christmas. There will be one winner in each of the age categories: 8 and under, 9-12, 13-17, and 18+. If you enter, your FLGS (favorite local game store) also wins - if you don't have a FLGS, please enter Fair Game in Downers Grove. They supported our game night a few years back by donating raffle prizes and discounts in the store with a coupon given out that night. Winter Collaborative Project
Our school will be participating in the Winter Collaborative Project being put together by the awesome Shannon Miller. She is one of my favorite librarians on Twitter. So far, there are about 100 schools participating globally. Each class will be listening to "Winter is the Coldest Season" and doing a follow up project based on the book. This will all take place in the library.
Cool Cats assembling new signs for the library.

Thank you for your support of our Veterans Day assemblies & visits.
