President's Message
Dear Members,
The Annual specialty held in Conjunction with the Cherokee Rose Cluster in Atlanta was a HUGE success! Next Year we plan to hold two concurrent specialties: Saturday – Puppy & Veterans Sweeps and a Conformation Show and Sunday – Jr Showmanship and a Conformation Show. We are in the process of getting judges – To date we have Valorie Cromer / Sweeps & Saturday’s conformation judge will be Kevin Cline – Forest Creek Cavaliers. Again, I want to thank everyone who helped make this year's Specialty possible. Without the folks that put in endless hours, we could not put on the caliber of shows we do.
On April 1st Linda Whitmire will host our annual puppy picnic. If you are attending the picnic and would be like to volunteer to help set up, clean up, work with the doctors please let Linda know (770-929-0234). We will have a heart and eye clinic, covered dish lunch, fun classes and a member match. Please plan to attend!
I hope everyone plans to support our club by attending our upcoming meetings and events.

2016 Holiday Luncheon
We held our annual Holiday luncheon and gift exchange at club member Linda Whitmire’s home on Saturday, December 17, 2016. What a great time everyone had. Linda and Bart opened up their home and provided a warm, festive location with a beautiful Christmas tree and holiday décor. The club purchased the ham and everyone brought sides and desserts. The food was plenty and delicious – and so were the desserts from cheesecake to homemade pecan pie!
We then had our white cavalier gift exchange with something that has never happened before – there was hardly ANY STEALING and the WHITE CAVALIER was the last gift! OMG! Needless to say, everyone had a great time socializing and we agreed it was a great, great time. Thank you again to Linda and Bart for being great hosts!
Member Recognition Awards
At our holiday luncheon on December 17, 2016, the club recognized twenty-year members Paula Ayers and Brenda Martz with beautiful plaques. Paula and Brenda breed & show under the Brookhaven affix and have produced several AKC and CKCSC USA champions. They also proudly have bred their first U.K. champion, English Ch, AKC GCH and CKCSC USA Ch Brookhaven Believe It or Not “Ripley”. We are so fortunate to have these sisters as club members! Congratulations on being CKCSC of Greater Atlanta club members for twenty years!
We also recognized our ten-year members and presented them with beautiful framed certificates. Congratulations to Linda Whitmire, Carol & Hollis Land, Missy Crane and Lee Chenevert.
Member of the Year
Our 2016 Member of the Year was presented to Sharon Utych at the Club’s holiday luncheon on Saturday, December 17th. Congratulations!

All Hallows Win Shots
If anyone has official win shots from the October 28, 2016 All Hallows Specialty Shows and Sweepstakes, and would like them posted on the website with the results, please email them to Sharon Utych at utych@earthlink.net.
Club Programs
We hope you provided input by completing the recent nine-question survey that was emailed out to all members. We are attempting to see what types of programs the members would be interested in and your input is needed! Results are being tabulated from the 18 responses received and will be presented at our Club meeting for discussion.
Would you like to volunteer to put together four programs a year for the club? We are looking for someone to volunteer to coordinate and set up speakers or programs for the club membership. Speakers range from vets, authors, specialists, judges...anyone who we could learn from! The topic does not have to be about showing dogs either! Think about volunteering and let club president Paula Ayers know if you are interested in spear heading this committee!
Even if you cannot volunteer to coordinate four programs a year but you know of a great topic or speaker, drop Paula an email at playerscav@aol.com!
2017 Nominating Committee

- 2 cups barley flour
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
- 1/3 cup shredded cheddar
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper; set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients and about 3 tablespoons water to form a dough. Roll out mixture between two sheets of plastic wrap to 1/4-inch thick; remove plastic wrap and cut out biscuits with a 3 1/2-inch bone-shaped cookie cutter. Reroll scraps and continue cutting out biscuits.

LIVER WATER RECIPE
Place a small piece (8oz) of liver in a sauce pan, add approx 1-1 1/2 cup water to cover liver. Gently boil the liver and water until the liver is no longer bloody. Remove from heat. Remove piece of liver from water, this may be fed in small pieces to bitch. Strain the liver water through either a coffee filter or fine mesh strainer. Liver water may be frozen in ice cube trays, then placed in zip lock freezer bag for future use. When frozen it should last 6-12months. Fresh liver water should keep 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
Liver water can be given to a fading puppy either 0.5cc to 1.0cc every 30 min, or you can even substitute it for a whole tube feeding at 0.75cc per 1oz puppy weight. Liver water can also be given in small amounts to a stressed bitch/dog who need extra calories and nutrition as well.
