Kicking Off the 2018-2019 School Year!

Welcome Back!

We are off to a great start here at Magowan. We can't thank our families enough for their dedication and commitment to keeping our students happy and safe. Thank you to everyone as we rolled with the waves as we settled into our routines. Operations are running smoothly and we greatly appreciate your patience.

Just a few reminders:

  • Anytime you are coming to the school please bring your photo identification
  • If you are using the car/van pick up line remember that Cherrix is a two-way street and you need to wait in the line even if you are going around.
  • If you are picking up your child early from school, please send in a note in the morning.
  • If there are any changes in dismissal the person picking up must by on the emergency card that you filled out at the start of the year. We will not dismiss unless the person has photo identification and are on the card.

Parade To Success

The outpouring of support during the Parade To Success made this a fantastic days for students. The enthusiasm was beaming out of each of our students as they paraded around the neighborhood getting excited for a great new school year. Check out some of the photos below to see how our day went!

Five to Thrive

Here is a link to a few simple tips you can use at home. Thank you Mr. John Lestino for the great find! You can press play and listen or just read along.

Follow us on Twitter @MES_EPTSD

We will be sharing the journey of our school through the social media vehicle Twitter. This is a great way for our school to engage with other school districts in NJ and across the world. We will be able to amplify our students' voice and empower them to be confident in who they are. Only students who have signed the acceptance of photos will have their photos published on our Twitter page. Join on in this journey by creating a twitter handle using the app or visiting Our name is @MES_EPTSD

We look forward to seeing you there!

Grade Level News

Our classes are in full gear as they are ready to hop into the new year. This month has covered the launching of reader's and writer's workshop. Students developed routines for working independently and how to work on their goals. Students also started the beginning of the year math routines by exploring the math practices to set the stage for learning everything from developing number sense to working with all of the operations.

We strive to foster the home school connection and would love to share some tips for what you can do at home to support the learning going on in the classroom. Please see below.

Little Free Library

Have any books that you don't ready anymore?

We welcome all languages in new and gently used condition. We want to make books accessible to ALL of our students. Can you help? Send them into the main office and we will take care of the rest!

Be sure to ask your students at the end of the week about our #MagowanRocks trophy. Each month we will celebrate our top 3 classes of students with the highest attendance rates.

When you miss school, you miss out, and we miss you!

4th Annual Jump Into Reading

This year we will again be participating in The Jump into Reading Challenge. We will invite students in grades 1-4 in the qualifying public, private, and charter schools in the 7th Legislative District to read as many books as possible during the time period of October 1st-November 21st. The top student from grades 1-2 and 3-4 that read the most books in each of the schools will receive a certificate from my office and a special invitation to attend our Reading Bowling Party celebration to be held on December 8th 2018 at Laurel Lanes. In addition to that, the top reader from each grade from across the district will receive a special plaque.

A flyer and log will be copied for each student. I encourage you all to participate and to help further develop our students love of reading! See me with any questions.

Attention parents of preschool children

Does your child have difficulty in one or more of the following areas:

Hearing - Seeing - Talking - Listening - Sitting - Standing - Walking - Running - Feeding One Self

Toilet Training - Socializing

The school district offers FREE PROGRAMS to preschool handicapped children. To be eligible a child must be 3-5 years old and qualify for services. Children under 3 may be served by early intervention programs. We believe the sooner a child's special needs can be determined, the better that child's chances to receive an appropriate education and develop his/her potential.
