Quarantine Procedures: EMS
Your Student's Learning While Away and Regaining Health
Your Student Was Exposed or Tested Positive. Let's Work Through the Next Steps Together for a Safe, Healthy Transition
Q School Support with Mrs. Pederson
While in quarantine you may be concerned about the time lost at school. Students should continue to attend their classes at the regular times through zoom. They will be able to listen to their teacher’s lessons, engage in classroom discussions and participate in classroom activities and assignments.
Mrs. Pederson is an added resource for students to get help on classroom assignments. Mrs. Pederson hosts daily lunch zooms for students to socialize and chat. Q-School is online through her Canvas page. The class name is Q School With Mrs. Pederson.
Students should have paper, pencil and any necessary books or supplies needed for the assignments they plan to work-on during our time together.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Pederson at pedersona@estacada.k12.or.us or call at (503) 630-8516 Ext#2530. Mrs. Pederson will call you back as soon as possible. We are excited to welcome your child to the online classroom and help him/her to continue learning while in quarantine.
Attending School Virtually While In Quarantine
- Follow their regular schedule - through Canvas - and engage with academic learning while participating live (in real time) with Zoom technology.
- Keep their camera on
- Email their teachers with any questions they have about learning.
- Submit all learning tasks each day.
During the length of your student's quarantine, the Office Team at EMS will be transitioning your student to "Track A" which represents distance-learning. And, your student's attendance code will be switched to "S." We switch your student's attendance code to "S" to limit the frequency of attendance communication you may receive.
Why Is Your Student Expected to Quarantine?
An exposure is defined as a susceptible (lacking documentation of immunization and/or lacking evidence of immunity) individual, who has close contact for longer than 15 cumulative minutes in a day with a person who has COVID-19. If a school cannot confirm that 6 feet of distancing was consistently maintained or 3 foot distancing with consistent mask use was maintained during the school day, then each person the confirmed case was in contact with will need to quarantine – this could include all members of a stable cohort.
Teachers are required to have seating arrangements in their classrooms to help administrators and office staff to determine close contacts and thus peers who have been exposed.
For How Many Days Will My Student Need to Quarantine or Isolate?
5 Days (Return on Day 6): If your student is exposed and is unvaccinated, quarantine lasts 5 days (Day #1 is the first day after the exposure). On the 6th day your student may return to school unless your student becomes sick while quarantining.
10 Days: If your student is unvaccinated and lives with a person who has COVID-19 and your student cannot relocate to a different home.
**If your student has contracted COVID-19 in the last 90 days, your student does not need to quarantine unless your student becomes symptomatic. If your student is vaccinated then your student does not need to quarantine.
