We had a wonderful week of learning at school! Spring has definitely sprung, and the walls of our school are vibrant with beautiful spring flowers, rainbows and bunnies :) We hope that you enjoy the artwork shared here -- we wish that we could capture it all, as there are so many unique and lovely works of art adorning the walls, and so many bold and creative young artists.
Thank you so much for your support in reminding your child/ren about the before school COVID protocols: we noticed that students were arriving closer to 9:15 and, thanks to our amazing Caretaking Team (who repainted the lines to remind students where to line up), everyone lined up promptly, calmly and safely this week. We greatly appreciate the collaboration. A reminder to Kindergarten families that parents/caregivers are asked to pick up their children from the parking lot side, and only walk through in front of the Kinder yard if necessary to pick up other children: please respect the one-way flow of traffic that staff are trying to establish, and physically distance from other families.
We enjoyed some beautiful weather earlier in the week, but had a few indoor recesses due to the muddy/wet conditions of the yard. We don't keep students indoors unless it is raining hard -- please send your child/ren with the clothing appropriate for the weather each day: as you can see from the photo above, we get outside and enjoy all of the weather! Sending extra socks and clothing is always a good idea :)
Today we participated in the LDSB Earth Hour, and turned off lights and screens from 2:30-3:30. We will receive a report that lets us know how much electricity we conserved: a great reminder that turning off lights when possible is a simple and effective way to be environmentally friendly!
We want to again remind families of the importance of daily Covid screening and to keep children home even if they are experiencing ONE of the symptoms of Covid. Siblings also need to remain at home as per KFL&A guidelines. With VOC on the rise, it is critical that we follow these steps. There have been cases popping up in other schools and so far, we have been fortunate that our safety diligence has paid off. We want to keep our classrooms and our school open, so please follow the guidelines below. We understand that it can be an inconvenience, however, the consequence of not following guidelines will be an even greater hardship. We are SO thankful for everyone's grace and understanding as we continue to navigate challenging times. Staff and their families are required to follow the same guidelines. We really are in this together.
Here are the guidelines from KFL&A which can also be found HERE.
**If they have any symptom(s), a COVID-19 test is recommended. Your child/student must stay home and self-isolate until:
• They receive a negative COVID-19 test result, or
• They receive an alternative diagnosis by a health care professional, or
• It has been 10 days since their symptom onset.
LDSB does not require a doctor's note or negative Covid test for your child to return to class, as we trust that all families will follow guidelines and do their part in keeping everyone safe.
Our Virtual Book Fair was big success! We hope that families who were able to purchase books take some time to read this weekend, and we can't wait to purchase new books for everyone to enjoy with the Scholastic points that we earned for the school. Merci, Mme Clarke!
We hope that you have a relaxing weekend: enjoy the sunshine tomorrow, and take some time to snuggle up indoors with your loved ones if it is a rainy Sunday :) Take care, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week!
