Trice-Told Tales
November Parent Newsletter 2017
What's happening around Trice
Your Vote Matters
Don't forget to vote. Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 on the first floor of Miller County Courthouse, 400 Laurel St., Texarkana. Election Day is Nov. 7. There will be nine polling places open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Book Fair
Ms. Cole-Carter and Ms. Dennington recently hosted the Scholastic book fair for the library and sold $10,000.77 worth of books and other items over the past two weeks. This was an increase of $1100.00 from last year and the highest in sales for the past 3 years. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help make this a huge success; Lisa Stone, Kristy Dewberry, Beth Pesek, Shelva Haworth, Jennie McDonald & Josh, and the Trice Book Club.
Trice or Treat
During our first Trice or Treat, we gave away 202.3 lbs of candy and over 400 books. Thank you parents, guardians, and grandparents for donating all the candy! We had fun weighing the candy and trying to guess how much it all weighed. If you have any pictures from that evening that you would like to share, please post them to Facebook and us at #triceortreat. We will add them to our Facebook album as well as our hallway televisions.
Tech Tuesday
New this year we will be producing a monthly technology newsletter. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep parents and guardians up to date on the technology and apps students are using in the classroom. Many of these apps can be used at home to help students practice the academic skills they are learning at school.
Pull Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
Trice is joining forces this year with all the schools in TASD to collect pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Save the pull tabs from your aluminum cans and bring them to school. If you have any questions about the Ronald McDonald House Charity, please contact Ms. Monaghan. Our H.E.A.T. team is also recycling aluminum cans, so once you pull the tabs off, rinse out the cans and bring them to school as well. For questions about the H.E.A.T. team please contact Ms. Newton.
coffee & conversation with the principal
All Trice parents are welcome to join the principal for coffee and conversation from 7:15-7:45 AM on the 3rd Thursday of every month in the library. Starbucks is donating the coffee for these occasions. Please join us for information about what is going on around Trice. Together we make the perfect blend of parents, community members, and educators working together to help all of our students succeed.
Arty Party
Our 4th annual Arty Party will be held on Thursday, November 9th, from 4:30-6:30. Students must purchase a bracelet for $5.00 to gain entrance to the games, projects, and jump house. Bracelets may be purchased at school or the evening of the event. We will also have our classroom art silent auction, food for sale, and a photo booth.
