Mission:
We will support the positive growth of our Hillside community to produce lifelong learners.
Vision:
We will collaborate together as a cohesive unit to instruct and support students, staff and families socially, emotionally and academically to achieve Hillside’s overall mission.
Indigenous Land Acknowledgement:
We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the land of the Mdewakanton (Mid-ah-wah-kah-ton) Dakota people. Mdewakanton means, “dwellers of the spirit lake."
Site Student Achievement Goal: The percentage of all students in grades K-5 at Hillside Elementary, who meet or exceed proficiency on the IRLA in reading will increase from 32.2% in Fall 2023, to 64.4% in spring of 2024.

Meet our 1st Grade Team!
Supervision Schedule
AM Duty (Please arrive to the front by 8:20):
Glazer, LaDoux, Chopard-Boge (Not on Day 3), Murray (Not on Day 2)
- 1 at K Doors
- 1 Front Doors, 1 cafeteria
PM Duty
5th Grade
- 1 person at north west location of front side walk (by patrols crossing to bike rack)
- 1 near front doors (responsible for check front hall that it is clear of busers and wave the all clear to adults by buses)
- 1 at buses
PM Bus B Route Duty - Students will come sit down to wait inside the gym (Adult crossing guards will take over by 3:25) Daisy B Route Procedures
***Ms. Sam, (arrive immediately at dismissal 3:05) and 5th Grade (will arrive once outside is supervision is complete - the entire team does not need to supervise, feel free to rotate who goes in the gym)
Dismissal Times
As we work to solidify our procedures and routines, here are the dismissal times we finalized during our team meetings.
2:57 Patrols
3:05 Kinder and 3rd Grade and Daisy Bus A
3:07 (first bell) 1st and 4th Grade
3:09 (or immediately following 1st) 2nd Grade
3:10 (second bell) Pre-K and 5th
3:15 Buses depart by this time at the latest
3:30 Daisy Bus returns for 2nd route
**Pre K and K will use the kindergarten door for dismissal and our special education busers will use the door opposite the K door. All other students in grades 1-5 must exit out the front doors unless they are picking up a sibling (approved by parent) or a bus helper.
Note we will now have one A/B bus route that I was just notified about. This means the Daisy Bus Route will take 1 load of kids home - Route A , come back and take a 2nd load home - Route B. I will confirm on Wednesday will all Daisy Bus Route B students they know and understand the plan. Students on Route B will report to the gym to line up and sit down. Licensed staff will be assigned this duty to supervise until at least one of our adult crossing guards are available from outside to take over the supervision; the bus is scheduled to return at 3:30 to pick up Route B. I will work on a rotation for this supervision as well.
PTO Information
Our PTO meeting schedule is below, feel free to come any time! Our first meeting is Monday where we will set our calendar for the school year. They would love to hear from our staff as well.

Spotlight on a Staff Member
Spiritwear
Every Wednesday you have the option to wear college t-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, etc. Every Friday you have the option to wear Hillside Hawkwear and show your school spirit! Building apparel days:
- Wednesdays – College Wear Wednesday - wear any college gear you may have.
- Fridays - HAWKWEAR Fridays – wear Hillside Hawkwear or red/black/white.
- Hawkwear can be ordered from the Prepsports Website which is linked below. There are Women’s, Men’s and Kids sizes available. You can place your order whenever works best for you – work together to order with others and get free shipping. There is 30% off right now. Students and Staff invited to participate.
