Welcome

We want to welcome you again to the Northwest ISD family and thank you for the love, dedication, and hard work you are putting in to grow our students and our District. Teaching is one of the most meaningful professions a person can undertake. Yes there are good days and bad days, yes it can be stressful and sometimes frustrating, but remember, what you do makes a difference.

"Your profession is not what brings home your weekly paycheck, your profession is what you're put here on earth to do, with such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling."

- Vincent Van Gogh

Curriculum Corner

Our district is fortunate to have a plethora of instructional supports and resources. One of our best resources to improve teaching and learning are our Instructional Coaches. Whether you have specific content or pedagogy questions or would like to participate in a Coaching Cycle, our Curriculum Department and Instructional Coaches are here to support you.

Also, don't forget about the New Teacher Website. There are a ton of resources and information for both Elementary and Secondary

Instructional Technology Tip of the Month

Do you know about the PORTAL? Logging into portal.nisdtx.org gives you access to a myriad of district digital resources. Plus, once you’ve logged into the portal, you are automatically logged into all the resources linked from the portal. Spend less time logging in, and more time learning, with NISD’s PORTAL!

Things to Know

  • On Thursday, September 5th, you will be receiving an email with a link to our New Teacher Survey. This is a survey that we send out every 3 weeks for the first couple of grading periods to get feedback from our new teachers on what supports they are needing to be successful. We know you are busy but if you can, take just a few minutes (less than 3!) to complete the survey so that we can better support you and the meaningful work you do for our students.

  • If you have not met with your mentor/buddy or been assigned a mentor/buddy please contact your administrator as soon as possible.

  • The overwhelming most important piece of advise from last years new teachers was to ASK QUESTIONS. Ask your Mentor, Buddy, administrator, office manager, or anybody if you have questions. Remember, you can also call our office at anytime if you have questions, concerns, or need assistance.
