Some things to think about and reflect on from Kids Deserve It...
Page 17
Kids Deserve It is about stepping out on that limb even if it may break- doing something unexplored and unexpected. You CAN bring that fire to your classroom! Our schools deserve it, our communities deserve it, and our kids deserve it!
When you create imaginative and engaging lessons grounded in the learning standards, kids are more apt to behave well so they don't miss out.

ELA Updates
2 Week Writing Cycle: Continuing our focus on writing will continue to be a priority in our ELA instruction. Please use this Google Doc to see all the resources we have for writing instruction including rubrics and student writing samples. This is a working document so if you have things to share, please let me know. As a reminder, we expect our kiddos to be writing every day across the content areas and include a writing prompt in each unit.
Vocabulary: We will be starting our ELA block with vocabulary every day using the IDEA model in our ISN. Please do not feel like you have to make copies of the model for students to paste in their ISN. It is perfectly acceptable and encouraged for them to write/draw it out on their own.
Let Ms. Fred or Ms. VB know if you have any questions.

SUNSHINE COMMITTEE
Welcome to a new year at VBE: Where your VIBE attracts your TRIBE! We are so excited for another year of team and culture building! We would love to have one representative from each grade level join the Sunshine Committee. We will be spreading our joy to our staff in the form of get-togethers and wish-you-well care packages to our staff members. All staff members are encouraged to contribute $20 to the Sunshine committee to pay for supplies, etc. for our get-togethers. This year we will also be offering a "Secret Pal" gift exchange to spread good vibes! Fill out the Secret Pals form and return to Sarah Van Brimmer. You will receive a Secret Pal to surprise throughout the year while someone does the same for you!
