Evergreen's Mustang Messenger

Hello From Mr. Danford
Hello Evergreen Families!
The end of our first semester is upon us, as is Valentine's Day and conferences. We’ve come a mile already this school year, and we are excited for a focused second half, especially now that we know how to safely navigate school during a pandemic.
Your partnership (mask wearing, social distancing during drop-off and pick-up, health attestations daily) has helped in our success at school.
As Mrs. Montecucco and I reflect on the year so far, we are particularly proud of our work to offer our students a balanced educational opportunity in spite of COVID. Of course we offer programming in reading and writing, math, social studies, and science, but we also offer music education and STEM opportunities in our tech lab. Kids’ physical health and wellness is just as important. We are particularly proud of our work to support students in terms of their social and emotional health. Academic progress is evident, while behavior infractions and referrals are down.
To learn more of all of this and to hear about your child(ren)’s academic progress, Mrs. Montecucco and I would like to remind you to make an appointment for a parent/teacher conference this month. Conferences will be held February 24, 25, and 26. There is so much to learn by attending these important meetings, so plan to attend.
Go Mustangs!

What is the purpose of Title I?
According to the U.S. Department of Education the purpose of Title I funding, “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
Still this winter and into spring, Mr. Danford and Title I teacher, Ms. Boldrick will be offering opportunities to learn more. Stay tuned.

We Do Not Celebrate Birthdays With Food
Although we love to celebrate birthdays at Evergreen, we do not celebrate birthdays with food as our Mead Board of Directors have written. Board policy states…
The Mead School District is committed to providing school environments that promote and protect children's health and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity.
Once monthly a teacher may celebrate birthdays or holidays with food, but typically, we’ll celebrate in other ways, keeping the health of our kids in mind. See your teacher for ideas for celebrating birthdays at school.
