Dress Code
A few things to note:
- Spaghetti Straps are prohibited, but Lasagna Straps are ok.
- All shorts must extend halfway between the top of the knee and the end of the fingertips.
- Girls in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade are prohibited from wearing makeup.
- Boys - Hair may not extend beyond the top of the shoulders and must be groomed to stay
out of the eyes.
- Boys - Hair may not be worn in any length of a ponytail, man bun or braid.
- Boys - Visible objects in any body piercing are prohibited and coverings of visible body
piercings cannot be used to meet the dress code guidelines.

Mrs. West
Personally, my husband, who is a teacher in the district, and I celebrated our 20th year of marriage this summer. We have a son who attends Frank Seale Middle School, and our youngest son is a student at Miller. We are proud of the community we live in and serve.
Mrs. Wendel
Mrs. Wendel is excited to start her 4th year at LaRue Miller Elementary. She has been with Midlothian ISD for 5 years. Mrs. Wendel graduated from Oklahoma State University with her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and graduated from Texas Woman’s University with her Masters in Administration. She has four children Drew 14, Beau 11, Delaney 9, and Brynn 7. Her boys attend Frank Seale Middle School, and her daughters attend Miller! She has been married for 16 years to her husband, Doug. Doug is the Head Football Coach at Midlothian High School. We are MISD Proud!!
Mrs. Boyd
My name is Amy Boyd and I am the counselor at LaRue Miller. I am beyond excited to be a part of the Miller family. This is my 13th year in education and my 8th year as a school counselor. I graduated from Texas Tech University with my bachelor’s degree and Tarleton State University with my Masters of Education in Counseling. I am a resident of Midlothian and am looking forward to serving my community and LaRue Miller Elementary. I have a passion for working with students and have enjoyed meeting everyone!
Nurse Sullivan
Hi! I am Joanne Sullivan, your school nurse at LME. I have been in the field of nursing since I graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1984. I worked in a hospital setting for 8 ½ years practicing in ICU, then Labor and Delivery. From 1995 until present, I have been a school nurse. In 2010, I came to MISD. My first year was at J.R. Irvin and then joined the Miller family in 2011. I am excited to educate and support healthy habits in our students and staff!
Mrs. Thompson
Hello, my name is Tammie Thompson. I am the PEIMS/Attendance Registrar. I’m happy to say this is my 17th year at MISD. We have such a dedicated staff of educators and caring parents. I’ve been married for 35 years, have 2 handsome sons, 2 lovely daughters-in-law, 2 precious

Hydrocephalus Awareness Month- September
September is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. The nation uses this month to increase awareness of the serious neurological condition characterized by an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluids in the brain.
