Seguin Update for Parents - September 8, 2020
Returning to School - September 28
I hope this newsletter finds you well.
The school board voted to begin the option of in-person learning on September 28, for any family that chooses. Families will have the option of both online or in-person starting September 28. Each family must let us know which choice they make. Below you can find a poll that will allow you to choose virtual instruction or to choose in-person instruction.
For those that choose in-person, students with last names A-L would attend schools on Mondays and Tuesdays and students with last names M-Z would attend on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fridays would alternate between students with last names A-L and students with last names M-Z. This would mean students would attend on Fridays every other week. (see Hybrid Model calendar below)
It also important to note that there will be a process to move from virtual learning to in-person learning at anytime you would like to, after September 28. You will be able to change your mind, either way.
In order to help you make your decision, I wanted to share with you some specifics about what the in-person experience will look like. School will not look like it has in the past. The focus will be on delivering instruction in the safest environment possible.
- Masks will be required and strictly enforced.
- Social distancing guidelines will be in place (classroom, lunch room and hallways).
- All students will participate in daily health screenings and pre-entry temperature checks.
- Students will be in a hybrid model and a modified schedule (see below).
- No students will be allowed to leave campus for lunch.
Regardless of the method of instruction, students will receive the same lessons. If students opt for in-person instruction, they will follow the same daily schedule where they have 50 minutes of asynchronous time and 50 mins of synchronous time for each class. They will receive the same synchronous lesson at the same time as those students that are virtual.
Our students that receive services under our A.B.L.E. or Alternate Curriculum program would attend everyday all day, beginning September 28. We will send out more info directly to those families.
We are excited to give you the option of both methods of delivering instruction. We will need to get your choice by Thursday, September 10, by completing the poll below.
As always, please feel free to contact us for anything you need.
Thanks again for your patience, understanding and cooperation during this adventure for all of us!

Return to School Poll
Students will have the opportunity to attend in-person learning beginning September 28th. Please complete the parent survey about your plans for continuing instruction once our campuses are open for in-person learning at this link. Many of you completed a survey as part of our registration process, and we want to ensure your decision has not changed. Sharing your preferences will help us prepare for your child’s needs. Please see this communication from Superintendent Cavazos included below to help inform your decision.
