Information
Hillgrove Ave. Closures Next Week:
Hillgrove Avenue, from Johnson Avenue to Franklin Avenue, will be closed to traffic and unavailable for parking, from Monday October 14 through Friday, October 18. This closure is due to the installation of a new water main across Hillgrove Avenue. Johnson Avenue, Franklin Avenue, and Howard Avenue will remain open to north and southbound traffic.
** This will mean that traffic on Howard might be hairy(er!) than normal -- let's keep extra eyes out there!
Additionally, the construction company will start on Saturday to open trench across Hillgrove Avenue near the school. The trench will then be backfilled, and we expect them to pour concrete on Monday, weather permitting. We would then anticipate a metal plate placed in the street over the trench until the concrete cures, approximately one week.
*Drop off and bus access should be available during that week - they'll just drive across the metal plate on Hillgrove. Parking may be impacted due to construction equipment.
All-School Assembly on 10/16:
We'll aim to have all kids packed and ready before the start, and will call classes down starting at 2:45 to be ready to start right at 3pm (or just before).
As this will be our first all-school assembly of the year, I'll start us off with a quick reminder about appropriate assembly behavior; please make sure - as I know you will! - you check in about this in the classroom before heading down. My signal for all to get quiet will be a hand with five fingers and a quiet countdown to zero -- if you'll prep kids to look for me, look for the countdown hand, and impress me with their quick quiet-down, that'll be great!
We'll aim to wrap by 3:25 (or just before) and get kids back to class to grab their backpacks, etc., and head on home!
(Meanwhile, I'll be avoiding swarming bugs as I aim to rinse off my chocolate and sprinkles layers!)
Update: Problem Solving Calendar:
Kerry is very sad to announce that she will no longer be managing the Problem Solving Calendar -- it will now be managed by me! Please reach out directly to me if you need/want to schedule a meeting. Kerry will now be a regular member of the team, but not the organizer. Please tip your hat to her when you see her next for her hard work with this over the years, as it's a doozy!
Reminder: PowerSchool Support:
- On Tuesday's Tech Institute day, there will be PowerSchool sessions offered by our fabulous coaches to help guide and support you as you gear up for this process. If you're feeling uncertain or want some support to either a) enter in the system or b) prepare to enter in the system when your window opens, look no further!
- We will dedicate the last 10 minutes of our 10/23 staff meeting (8-8:30am) to all things PowerSchool related; it will be an optional session for those who'd like the support! Shannon McGrath will be on deck to help out. If you have a burning question, don't hesitate to reach out to Shannon in advance to make the best use of that time.
Reminder: Return Your Element 1 Packet to Ashley
... or don't forget to have it ready and with you on 11/1, our next PD meeting. Thanks!
