Kinetic/Potential Energy
Energy
Potential/Kinetic Energy
Potential energy is energy at rest. Kinetic energy is energy in action, for example clock hands moving or cars going down the street. An example of potential energy is say a soccer ball that hasn't been kicked yet or a car that hasn't hit the accelerator.
Kinetic Energy
As you can see the newton balls are hitting each other, as a result they are creating kinetic energy by being in motion.
Potential Into Kinetic
Look at the ball as it rests in the girls' hands, that is potential energy because the ball is at rest. As the girl drops the ball it transforms into kinetic energy because the ball is no longer at rest.
Kinetic Energy
The people are running on the pavement. Since the people are in motion that makes it kinetic energy
A Catapults Potential Energy
If you look closely at the catapult you can easily tell it is drawn back. We know that if the energy is not in action it is not kinetic, so in that case it has to be potential energy.
Spring Energy
Look at the middle picture the spring, it is compressed. That is potential energy, on the bottom pic the spring was released, therefore the potential energy was released.
Potential Energy of a Rubber Band
As you can see the rubber band is pulled back. That means the matter is not in motion, that also means that the picture is demonstrating potential energy.
