North Texas Teen Book Festival - April 23rd
We are so excited to be able to attend the North Texas Teen Book Festival again this year! Last year was the first year of the festival and it's coming back even bigger and better this year. There will be over 75 amazing young adult authors in attendance to talk on panels, with students, and to sign their books. It will be a complete blast. Please let your students know that it's on Saturday, April 23rd this year and we'll be leaving from the school that morning for this all day, free event. Tell them to come see us in the library for more information!
Last Staff Book Club of the Year!
On May 10th at On the Border after school, we'll meet to discuss the amazing memoir by Paul Kalanithi, When Breath Becomes Air. Join us as we wrap up the year and plan for our summer reading!
Librarians Presenting at TLA Conference!
We are so excited that we are going to presenting a session at the Texas Library Association's Annual Conference! This will mean that we will be off campus Tuesday afternoon through Friday, but we will still be available through email, text, etc. Please let us know if anything comes up at school and we'll still try to take care of it, even if we are in Houston.
Battle of the Books Competition on May 26th
This is our second year in the Battle of the Books competition and we've had students preparing for months. Battle of the Books is a competition where 10 books are chosen, students on the team read the books, and then they compete against the other high schools on their knowledge of the books. It is fun and super competitive. Mesquite High School won last year and we aim to steal their B.O.B. crown!
