PKM
Dear Parents/Caregivers, Students, and Staff:
Thank you for continuing to work through the Learning Plan educational activities that were introduced after spring break. These plans focus on mastery of skills in reading, writing, and mathematics and it is very important that students continuing working through the plans so they are well positioned to start the next school.
I want you to know that our plan is to continue working through these Leaning Plans
for the remainder of the school year so that our students are prepared for the next grade level or class that they will pursue in the fall. These Plans have been carefully designed to support continued learning with flexibility and attention to reducing the learning gap that could occur before the start of the 2020-2021 school year. You should also know that we will continue to monitor, evaluate and adjust as needed.
GRADING:
Teachers, when grading learning activities, will want to see that students have applied effort and achieved a mastery level of understanding. Satisfactory work completed while learning remotely can help improve a student’s final grade. A students’ final grade will not be lowered as a result of the learning activities that are being completed during this school closure.
Student grades can be reviewed on Schoology. Should you have questions or concerns about student grades, please contact your student's teacher or principal.
Grades will be recorded in Schoology as follows:
Secondary Schools:
- For students who submitted work in the 4th nine weeks, the student grade will be the same as or higher than the 3rd nine weeks. The semester grade will be the average of the 3rd and 4th nine weeks.
- For students who did not submit work during the 4th nine weeks, no grade will be recorded for the student. The semester grade will be the 3rd nine weeks grade.
Elementary Schools:
- For students who submitted work in the 4th nine weeks, the student grade will be the same as or higher than the year grade. The year grade will be the average of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th nine weeks.
- For students who did not submit work in the 4th nine weeks, no grade will be recorded for the 4th nine weeks. The year grade will be the average of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd nine weeks.
I know that all of us take this remote learning experience seriously and have been working hard to support and encourage each other. We should make the goal of reducing the learning gap as important as the goal of flattening the Covid-19 curve. While our students won’t be penalized for performance during the pandemic, we should continue to reach them, stretch them, and have them strive for more, not less.
Thank you again, for the part you are playing in educating and caring for our children.
UPDATE: We're all in this together!
Be well, stay safe
