January 11 - 15 - College Week
It’s that time of year again! Who is ready to spell? That’s right, our Annual Hedgcoxe Elementary Spelling Bee is just around the corner and you are invited to participate!
Who: 4th and 5th Grade
When: Tuesday, January 19, 2016 @ 8:15 A.M
What: Hedgcoxe Spelling Bee
How: 4th and 5th grade will be competing for the title of Hedgcoxe Spelling Bee Champion. One winner from our school will participate in the district spelling bee. This is the first step on the way to The National Spelling Bee Championships in Washington, D.C.
Monday - Hedgcoxe Hounds are college bound! Wear Hedgcoxe spirit wear.
Tuesday - Our next step is to be at Hendrick Middle School! Wear red and black.
Wednesday - clark High School is In My Future! Wear red, black or silver
Thursday - Central Spirit Helps Prepare You For College Show your central pride and wear Plano Sr. High colors- wear burgundy and white.
Friday - I am going to college!Wear your favorite college shirt and hat.
Clothes Donation Bin
A clothing bin has been delivered to the Hedgcoxe parking lot. The school will receive $0.15 per pound of clothing and shoes we collect each month! Money will be given directly to the school!
Reading / Social Studies: Unit 3 Week 6
Students will be reviewing all the skills from Unit 3:
· Draw Conclusions
· Fact and Opinion
· Character, Setting, Plot
I can draw conclusions and describe the successes, problems, and organization of the Republic of Texas.
I can summarize the main idea from dramatic text.
I can write an expository essay
Students will be writing an expository essay in response to a Document Based Question that has been discussed daily in class.
There is no Spelling test next week.

Unit 5 - Data Analysis

Data Analysis: Topic 15
The mathematical focus of Unit 5 is solving problems by collecting, organizing, displaying and interpreting data. Students will represent data on a frequency table, dot plot, or stem-and-leaf plot and use the data to solve problems involving whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
Data Analysis test is scheduled for January 15th
Science MAP Testing Week
Students will begin to understand and communicate the importance of Earth's cycles and systems.
Students will describe how the Earth is constantly changing through the processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition.
