#WelcomeApril
April is here! I hope you all had a resting and refreshing spring break! The weather was just about perfect! I am ExExExCited to get our scholars back in the building and use these next three weeks in April to put in our full efforts to prepare for April 30th testing!
GMAS will begin Monday April 30th.
These next three weeks, we will be working hard to make sure our scholars are prepared to #SlamTheExam! Each day of GMAS will be a different day geared to have us focused and ready for testing and doing our very best.
We have taken Spring Map and we will be meeting with scholars during WIN to talk about what the data means and how we can use it to set goals for ourselves.
Remember we are collecting COKE caps and Box Tops and please send any in that you have with your child! You can do this right from your phone. Check out the link here:

#ReadersAreLeaders (The 5)
Spring is a great time to pick a new book to read! April is School Library Month!! We would love to have you come and visit our Media Center! I am certain you will fall in love with a book or five! Reading at home is a great way to model the love of reading and encourage your child to read more! The best way to become a better reader is to read as much as you can! I am working on an AMAZING project for us next year that I am certain everyone will love!!! #ReadToMe
Notes from Ms. Raeburn (The 10)
April...Ready, Set, GO!
We are ready for the Spring season, elite learning, and state testing. BCMS has already completed Spring MAP and we have that data ready to share with you and with your child. By doing spring MAP early this year, we are able to use that data to help us plan and drive instructional decisions in our classrooms. Each child will get the Student Profile report of their MAP scores in WIN class. That information is a wonderful tool for us to use as we plan and put the finishing touches on GMAS Prep.
Now is also a great time to make sure your day to day routines are solid. In order to make sure each day is ELITE, scholars should be getting between 9-12 hours of sleep, (Grown Ups need sleep too!) drinking lots of water, and eating balanced meals! If you also could check your home calendars and limit appointments the weeks of GMAS, that would be awesome! We strive for minimal interruptions and high attendance rates!
8th grade will begin testing 4/30
6th and 7th grade will begin testing 5/7
We will have every scholar tested in the morning and we will be able to resume regular classes by noon each day.

We will have a celebration for all scholars who earned Proficient and Distinguished on last year's GMAS and we will have a whole school kick off on Friday April 27th.
GMAS this year is scheduled to begin Monday April 30th and run through May 11th.
We are very fortunate at BCMS to be almost 1:1 which allows us to test all our scholars in the morning!
