Roosevelt Information

A few reminders so you can stay in the know:

~ COVID Mitigation Info: In an attempt to eliminate or reduce the number of students who are identified as close contacts, we will be adding some additional mitigation layers, mostly as it relates to breakfast, snack, and lunch time, when we return from winter break on January 3, 2022. More specific information will be coming, hopefully before winter break.

~ Winter BINGO: Be looking for the RED BINGO sheet coming home over winter break. Fabulous prizes, sponsored by the amazing Roosevelt PTO, will be awarded at each grade level for getting a reading BINGO. Check it out--read with a stuffed animal, read in your pajamas, etc. FUN for the whole family! :-)

~ DRESS UP Days to raise funds for Climb To Feed Kids: Bring a $1 (or more!!) each day next week to help us raise funds to support the Backpack Food Program.

Monday - Sports Day (wear their favorite sports gear)

Tuesday - Hat Day (wear their favorite hat)

Wednesday - Pajama Day (please be sure PJs are clean and school appropriate)

~ Winter Weather: To check information about school being delayed, dismissed early or cancelled, you can:

Call: The District Information Line at 386-4777. HINT: If you save it to your phone your kids can check it and not bother you at 6 am.

Watch: WCCO (Ch 4), KSTP (Ch 5), FOX (Ch 9), KARE (Ch 11), KEYC (Ch 12)

Listen: KMSU (89.7 FM), KXLP (94.1 FM), KDOG (96.7 FM), KEEZ (99.1 FM), KXAC (100.5 FM), KRRW (101.5), KYSM (103.5 FM), WCCO (830 AM), KTOE (1420 AM)

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE TO SEE IF SCHOOL IS CANCELLED OR RELEASING EARLY. Our school phone lines tie up quickly when an early closing is announced so be sure you have your Snow Emergency Form current as we will follow the directions you have given us on that sheet.

District text messages with reminders and announcements. You can receive text messages to remind you about things such as two-hour late starts and inform you of weather related changes. Subscribe to receive emails using this link. Once you open that link, scroll down and click on the “News” and then click the "Bell symbol".

Please remember that ACES, our after school childcare program, does not operate when we close due to inclement weather.

* When the weather causes school to start two hours late, breakfast will not be served.

~ Glove/MItten Donation: We are REALLY short on waterproof gloves/mittens for the kids to use. If you have any extras or wish to donate some, we'd really appreciate it!

~ Please, please, please do not send your child to school if they are sick or are exhibiting any symptoms of illness. I cannot state this strongly enough, and I am begging for your help with this.

~ No School beginning December 23 and continuing through January 2, 2022. We will see Raccoons when they return after the new year on Monday, January 3, 2022. Here's wishing every single Raccoon and their family a restful winter break and a Happy New Year!!!

All the best,

When should my child have a coat? a hat?

Please use this chart in the morning as you are helping your child get out the door. Also, please remember that as the day warms, these guidelines change, so help us help your child have what they need! Once we have a snow hill, students in grades K-3 will also need boots and snow pants in order to play up on the hill.

Birthday Book IDEAS!!!! Take a peek!!!

With district wide budget cuts, our library book budget has been severely reduced. We are still dedicated to filling the Roosevelt Media Center with the latest new releases that kids are excited to read. If you are donating a Birthday Book, please consider some of these titles (see below) to help us keep our collection up to date and filled with great reads! Each week we will share new titles, so please consider a Birthday Book donation to the Roosevelt Media Center using some of these suggestions. Your child's teacher has all of the Birthday Book information, so be looking for that coming home in your child's birthday month. And don't worry...teachers will communicate with you if your child has a summer birthday! :-)
