Ireland's History
Ireland was first settled around the year 8000 BC when hunter-gatherers came from Great Britain and Europe. They hunted and fished for almost 4000 years until they finally decided to farm. Irish society was Pagan untill he early 5th century when Christian missionaries, including St. Patrick. Christian religion took over the Pagan religion by 600 AD. Two centuries later Vikings attacked Ireland. These attacks lasted for 100 years. Irish society eventually assimilated the decents of the Vikings. Many more events happened untill in 1973, they koined the Europian Union
Location and Geography
Ireland is located on an island near northwest Europe and is surrounded by the North Atlantic ocean. Ireland is made up of low central plains surrounded by a ring of coastal mountains, islands, peninsulas, head lands, and bays. Ireland is bisected by river Shannon. In Ireland the highest peak is the Carrauntoohil and Esturay is the longest river.
Government and Currency
Ireland is a Republic and runs a Parllamentary Democracy. There currency is Euro, prior they use pounds.
