Our Path to First Choice No. 38
"Educate and Empower Students for Future Success"
Our Path to First Choice No. 38 May 25, 2022
Here's Our Path note for this week. Thank you for all you do for our learners!
WASD Leadership Model
WASD First Choice Pyramid
WASD Strategic Plan
"The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said".--Peter Drucker, Business Leadership Professor
Our Path Note Topic
The last few weeks, the Path Note has focused on various aspects of First Choice. One final team is working on the area of Communication.
The Communication Team will be working on Logo design, process, workflow for various forms of communication in WASD (Facebook, website, Abre, BoroBlast--email, text, voice--, direct email, phone call, etc.).
The team will work through the First Choice Staff Channel of Abre to post videos from building administration showing First Choice in their location and process for choosing and then storing evidence of the next targets the team will tackle. Eventually, the First Choice Staff Channel will have a process for staff to post First Choice videos/evidence instead of administration doing the posting. The team will build a video timeline of First Choice in WASD beginning with early days of just WASHS, and then the First Choice Family Channel will be launched for K-5 family interaction. The target of June of 2023 is set to have a K-12 Communication Plan for First Choice.
All of this is a way to document and store the why and what of First Choice.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Mary Fleagle. Mary is the amazing WAMS attendance secretary.
Mary didn't even ask, but emailed a teacher that she was sending a sub at 8:30 and 9:30 during PSSAS testing to give a stretch and a bathroom break. She's litterally the best, even when she is busy with a million other things she wants to makes ure I am comfortable at 9 months pregnant.
Mary's sense of humor and natural love of life brightens every day. We look forward to Mary's entertaining quotes and comics on the daily attendance. Her compassion for others is admirable. Mary is truly the Queen Bee of WAMS. Mary always goes above and beyond to help when needed. She often works on various tasks during the weekend in order to keep things running smoothly throughout the week. When you don't know an answer to something she will work hard to find it for you. When you need a little extra support and someone to listen, she is always available, She is a true friend you can rely on.
Mary frequently works longer than her scheduled day, and yet still helps direct the WAMS student play, visits families of seriously ill children, and performs many, many other duties beyond her job description. She is one-of-a-kind!
Congratulate Mary Fleagle for being this week's Piece of the Puzzle!!
Moving First Choice Ahead--Share with Tod
An amazing lesson took place in second grade at Fairview Avenue Elementary School this week in Mrs Cowden’s classroom- H1! It was involved around STEM and careers and all of the things! They broke into teams, gathered ideas, and started building rollercoasters out of paper, glue, used books, whatever the learners wanted to use to create their designs. They also did catapults and the learners designed them themselves also.. and tested them and measured the distance they were able to launch them.
