Dallas Harris Info

As most of you know, all of the Dallas Harris students will be starting at Riverside with a tentative opening of the new school in early November. Dallas Harris students will be placed in classrooms with Dallas Harris teachers (as Riverside teachers will have Riverside students) and when the school opens the Dallas Harris classrooms will move as one whole unit. The purpose of this is to create an easier transition for all students. If you have any questions please reach out to Dr. Taylor or Mrs. Forrey.

Riverside 23/24 Class Placement Parent Info

Hello Riverside Families,

It's time to start thinking of class placements for our next school year. Classroom placement at Riverside Elementary is a team effort involving the classroom teachers, parents, teacher specialists, counselor, and principal. We invest considerable time and effort into developing classroom groupings that balance the needs of individual students with the needs of all students. Many factors are considered in the decision making process. These factors include:

- Developing classes that reflect the full range of academic abilities

- Distributing the number of students equally within each grade level classroom

- Balancing the number of boys and girls

- Considering the needs of dependent and independent workers

- Maintaining equal distribution of students who might have a positive or negative influence on other students

- Parent input based on unique social or academic needs.

The information parents provide is an important factor in class placement. Please fill out this Google Form to provide parental input regarding your child's strengths, challenges and needs. Please note we are not able to honor requests for specific teachers. All information provided is taken into account and utilized in the placement process. This form must be submitted by April 28, 2023.

Riverside Character Traits

Why do we teach, reinforce and celebrate character traits at Riverside Elementary School?

We are committed to the growth and development of the whole child at Riverside. Learning about positive character traits and how they affect our life, other’s lives, and the greater community at an early age is important .

Children who learn character traits have better success in relationships both at school and outside of school. They learn to be more forgiving, responsible, caring, and compassionate individuals. They also learn how to cooperate with others, to tolerate different viewpoints, and to respect the needs of others.

Please ask your child about this month’s character trait (Grit/Perseverance), and ask them how they are displaying kind behavior at school and at home.

Cell Phone Policy

Riverside is asking that students do not have phones or use their smart watches out on school grounds before or during school. Students are allowed to keep their cell phones in their backpacks during the day. Thanks for your support on this issue.

PTO Corner:

  • Thank you so much for coming out to BINGO Night! We were able to raise $300 for the sixth grade party.
