The Woods Creek PTO hosted their fall book fair in November. Parents and students had fun shopping for books from Scholastic. Thank you to Amanda Santarelli and Layla Tichy for planning and organizing another wonderful book fair.
Thank you to Cheryl Bigney and Jen Eiserman for the amazing hallway decorations and for planning the reading events during our November reading week. The week’s activities included an author visit from Candace Fleming, book buddy reading, teacher swap read-aloud, and wear words day.

5Essentials Parent Survey
Students, staff, and parents across Illinois will have an opportunity again this year to participate in the eighth annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials survey. The 5Essentials survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of Illinois schools from the student, staff, and parent perspective.
The survey provides parents/guardians an opportunity to share thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about their child’s school. The Illinois 5Essentials parent survey (available in English and Spanish) is now open and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. To take the survey, visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin. One survey may be completed and submitted for each child by either parent.
If at least 20 percent of parents or guardians from all D47 schools complete the survey, a parent supplement report will be generated for the school district. This confidential report will help the district understand parent perceptions of the conditions at each school and help guide improvement. Parent identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will not be connected to their student.
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials survey or to view previous years’ reports, visit https://www.5-essentials.org/illinois.
We would like to wish our Woods Creek families a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy 2020!
