Labour Update

The Elementary Teacher's Federation of Ontario has indicated that if the government does not address critical issues, ETFO members will begin rotating strikes beginning January 20, 2020. The Limestone District School Board is NOT yet one of the school boards with a scheduled strike day. All Limestone schools are open. All classes will operate as scheduled. It may be prudent for families to begin seeking alternative arrangements for child care should a rotating strike occur in Limestone DSB. The Board will be given five days notice should strike action take place.

We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached soon at the central bargaining table between the province, the unions, and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA), which represents public school boards at the provincial table.

The Board will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Please contact Mrs. Campbell if you have any questions.

    Bookworm Challenge!

One of our school goals is to increase the number of students who enjoy reading and who are engaged, focused readers. Our student leadership team came up with a challenge to promote and celebrate reading! Emma, Malalai, Eden and Keira made a presentation to each class on Friday to launch the challenge.

Each time, a student, staff or class reads a book, they write the title on a circle that we will add to our worm. The worm is starting at the office and it will grow down the hall by the kindgarten class, by the Grade 1/2 class, take a detour down the Grade 4/5 hallway, cross by the library and gym, down the hall past Mr. Mackenzie's class, making it's way around the corner through the intermedaite hallway and hopefully back to the office door. Once completed, we will celebrate with an ice cream party!

Want to raise successful kids? Focus on kindness instead.

    Look For: Picture Frames

We are looking for donations of picture frames that we can paint and use to display student artwork. We do not need the backing or glass - just the frame! Please send in to the office.

    Look For: Bingo Volunteers

Our school participates in Bingo Fundraisers at Community Spirit Centre (located on Montreal St.). We are able to raise significant funds to enhance the experiences of all of our Grizzlies. We are in need of more voluntters who are willing to be trained and commit to volunteer for a few two hour bingo sessions over the year. For more information or to let us know you are able to help, please email parent council glenb.council@gmail.com or call the school.
