School Day SAT - Wednesday, March 1st
On Wednesday, March 1st, juniors will be provided the opportunity by the state of Ohio to take the SAT at Mayfield High School for free. Juniors are not mandated to take the standardized assessment, but we highly encourage our students to participate. The test will take place from 7:45 AM - 1:00 PM.
Juniors will be the only students reporting to school on March 1st. Freshmen and Sophomores will be provided End of Course test preparation material to complete at home. Additionally, seniors are asked to complete their scholarship applications and any other college and career information needed to help make their transition smooth upon graduation.
Please note that school transportation will be provided during normal morning times.
If you have any questions regarding the SAT, please contact Mrs. Bourdakos-Yost (mbourdakos@mayfieldschools.org) or Mr. Michael Coury (mcoury@mayfieldschoools.org).
SAT School Day Letter to Families
Dear Wildcats & Wildcat Families,
All junior students will be taking the SAT School Day on Wednesday, March 1st at Mayfield High School. There is NO LATE START on this day and all students are to report at 7:30. Testing begins at 8:00am.
Late arrivals will not be able to test.
Testing will take place in different locations within the building and a roster will be sent home the night before with the room assignment. Additionally, rosters will be posted in the main hallway. Please make sure your child checks their MHS email.
Important Test Day Information:
- All junior students will report to school by 7:30am.
- Students should bring with them: Photo ID (school ID is fine); several sharpened #2 pencils, calculator, extra batteries, snacks, and a water bottle for breaks. Students should leave their devices (phones, smart watches, etc.) and any other materials in their lockers or at home on testing day. If a student uses a device during the test or on a break, their score will be cancelled.
- Once testing has concluded and all SAT materials are collected, students will be dismissed to go home between 12:00-12:30pm. Students who have testing accommodations (504 & IEP) will test a bit longer and some into the next day, depending on their accommodations.
Test Preparation Information:
- Students can prepare for the SAT by visiting the College Board website. Students can also take free practice tests at Khan Academy.
- All students who took the PSAT can upload their scores directly to Khan Academy for personalized SAT practice help and tailored testing strategies. Be sure to do this in your College Board account.
- 10 hours of dedicated SAT practice with Khan Academy has been known to raise SAT test scores by 20-80 points.
- Lunch & Transportation Information: Bus Transportation will be provided at 1 pm & 3 pm.
- There is no lunch break; if a student wants to purchase a lunch for after testing, they can secure a grab & go lunch from the cafeteria.
As always, it is important for students to come to school prepared to take this exam. A healthy breakfast and proper sleep are beneficial to all students.
Thank you, in advance, for your continued support and cooperation with state testing mandates.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this information, be sure to reach out.
Sincerely,
Mia Bourdakos
