Important Attendance Announcment
Dear MRHS Parent and Families-
As we head into the first week of November, it is important to recognize the many successes we have had in the first two months of school, as well as the challenges we still face. Our teachers and students have collectively worked hard to navigate our new “live streaming” model of instruction and have settled into a more comfortable routine of teaching and learning. With that said, I think we can all agree that we would prefer to have everyone face-to-face as there no replacement for direct instruction. Thankfully, our new routine is working well and keeping our school community together.
However, I would like to take this opportunity to address a growing challenge we are experiencing in this blended learning environment. Live streaming instruction has provided us with an opportunity to move teaching and learning forward, even when students are not present in the building. Our teachers are working tirelessly to plan according to the cohort rotations which are both in-person and remote. This has required a tremendous adjustment to practices and countless hours of planning. We are currently experiencing an increased number of students electing to stay home on days they are coded to be in the building. While in theory this sounds like a reasonable action, in reality it is creating an imbalance with regard to quality instruction. This has created a situation where our teachers have been forced to adjust lesson plans on short notice, as well as reschedule planned assessments.
At this time, I am seeking your support in ensuring that your child is making every effort to follow their in-person learning schedule based on their cohort assignment. Moving forward, we will notify you if your child is absent from school on a day they are supposed to be present in the building. If for some reason your child needs to access their learning from home on their assigned in-person day, please contact Janet Ferro in the main office. Otherwise, our expectation is that students are in the building based on their assigned cohort.
Sincerely,
Jennifer L. Police, M.Ed.

The new vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. - Recovering from a broken knee cap, I was surprised and happy to receive a lovely "welcome back" package from MRHS Sunshine Committee! The cards, notes, office "stop ins" and emails from staff also warmed my heart♥ I think you heal faster when you know folks are thinking of you and praying for you! So thank you, to a very thoughtful staff, for your expressions of "get well!" Your kindness is appreciated and really makes a difference! With gratitude, Mrs. FERRO.
- I would like to give a shark shoutout to Jazmyn Jones and Dustan Burns for helping me create a 10+ meter solar system along my back wall. I would also like to thank Sarah Wheaton on taking the time to show me how to print on the library's poster printer. Their help made everything run smoothly and come together. Thanks! -James Otto
