Budding Authors!
Wascher kindergartners hosted a book fair this week to showcase their big animal research projects! Students started by learning about habitats, then focused on one type of habitat, and then chose an animal to research from the class habitat.
After researching a particular animal in their class habitat, students wrote books about what they learned and shared them with visitors during the fair.

Mac Community Fair
Yesterday, the City of McMinnville hosted a community fair that highlighted services and activities in McMinnville.
School mascots from Buel, Grandhaven, Duniway, Patton and MHS were on hand to represent the district – and even got to meet the Mayor (above)!

"If I Were Mayor"
Saylor wrote the winning essay about her passion for and involvement with community events in McMinnville like the UFO Fest and Teen Night Out. She also wrote about her desire to make the city more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities, like her brother, who can sometimes be challenged by barriers like uneven sidewalks.
Saylor was recognized during Mayor Drabkin's State of the City address at yesterday's community fair.

Moving Up to Middle School
This week, 5th grade students visited Patton and Duniway to get a glimpse of what life will be like in middle school.
They learned about expectations, took campus tours and met new friends during various activities. The event is intended to ease the transition from elementary to the bigger world of middle school. See more photos on the MSD Instagram feed!

Thank you, PTAs!

Bags of food and toiletries will help keep the center stocked over the summer. Thank you!
