Tech Tidbit

Executive functioning supports are important. Here are a few suggestions we have shared with your students over the past few weeks:

  1. The best way for students to check their grades/missing work is to use Schoology’s browser version (Black Schoology Icon on their iPads or using Safari). Go to Grades, Grade Report, Select Course to view scores. They can see their grades and click directly on the assignment link instead of searching around for it. And there are due dates there, too.

  2. Students can access Powerschool to check their grades. Here is a video of what it looks like for students.

  • Use this link: ps.wilmette39.org - Also located under Students on our WJHS website.

  • Student username is the beginning of their school email address before @wps39.org (ex. 21josephs)

  • Their password is their school email password (ex. 12345pop)

  1. Communicate with your teachers about your learning growth by checking for feedback-

Watch this quick video to refresh you on where to find your teachers' comments and feedback.

  • Each player is allowed to have 2 spectators attend games. These two spectators should sit together and be spaced 6 feet apart from other households.
  • Masks are required of all attendees.
  • Once your player is finished with their game you must leave the facility to allow room for other spectators to enter for the next game.
  • Siblings of players may attend, but they count towards one of the 2 spectators.
  • The student body will not be able to attend games at this time.

CIVICS & SAFETY

At our district-wide PTO meeting, some safety concerns were brought to our attention regarding the crosswalks and carpool lanes. There have been some close calls with WJHS students cutting through the Regina Dominica parking lot, during Regina’s pick-up and drop-off times. We have also had close calls with pedestrians crossing outside of the designated crosswalks. Please cross Locust at the crosswalk with the crossing guard. Lastly, for parents that are skipping the carpool lane and dropping students between the carpool entrance and exit, this is not allowed. It not only puts our crossing guard at risk, but your students must then cross in front of carpool cars to get to the school entrance. We know mornings can be hectic, but one accident could have a life-long impact. Please obey the walking and carpool rules. For more safety tips, please visit the Village Wide PTO’s Facebook Group: Wilmette Safety and Civics – Schools.

CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED

The Village of Wilmette is seeking candidates to fill both the Crossing Guard and

The Crossing Guard must be able to work from Monday to Friday, approximately 2 hours per day. The substitute Crossing Guards will fill in during the morning and/or afternoon as needed by the Police Department. Please visit this link for the job description. For information on how to apply, or view the Crossing Guard details here. (Link: https://wilmette.munisselfservice.com/ess/employmentopportunities/JobDescriptions.aspx)

SHIELD Illinois Thanksgiving Schedule

Looking ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday, we are tentatively planning to offer SHIELD testing, as usual, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, but will not be offering on Thursday, Nov. 25 (Thanksgiving Day) or Saturday, Nov. 27. Anyone who is registered is welcome to test on Tuesday, if they wish. Please note that processing times may be impacted by the holiday.

Strategic Plan Update

We are continuing to work hard to set the foundation and put our strategic plan into action.
