This Month at a Glance
~ Friday Night ~
Our Current Sermon Series
Modeled after the well-known TED Talks, each FRED Talks lesson will be taught by a different member of VY - some leaders, some students! I am working with each speaker to craft a message specific to those of us at VY. Join us for an exciting opportunity to hear from your small group leaders and fellow students!
Prayer for Students
Interested in praying for our students? Join us on the first Friday of every month from 7:00-8:00pm (while the students are meeting for VY) to intercede on their behalf and pray that God uses this ministry in a mighty way. Meet in the Prayer Room at PCC, or join over Zoom from the comfort of your home. Our students need prayer, and you can be a part of changing their hearts for Christ.
Questions, or interested in joining? Contact Preston Young or Maryann Quirk for more details!
Book of the Month
March's Book of the Month: "For Whose Pleasure" by Steve Klingbeil
"The goal of biblical worship is to please God. Most of the energy in the worshipping church, however, is invested in pleasing self - the worshiper. We have it backwards! This study confronts the self-centered nature of today's worship and challenges worshippers to think and to approach God differently. For worship leaders, church leaders, study groups, and every Christian, this book gives nine practical, biblical values to pursue as we make pleasing God our goal. These values will clear the haze surrounding the purpose of our corporate gatherings and give a new focus to the way we worship."
"For Whose Pleasure" was hands-down one of my favorite books that I have read in the past few years. Whether you are a regular Christian or serving on a worship team, this book tackles the struggle of the 'why' behind us singing songs each week. Our goal is not entertainment, but giving God what He is due.
"What's Book of the Month?" Great question! We recognize the importance of reading books that encourage your growth as a believer, especially when they're read outside of the normal Friday night youth group. So here's how it works!
Step 1: Grab a free copy of the Book of the Month from the VY Connection Table
Step 2: You have the entire month to read the book at your own pace
Step 3: Text Preston (610-216-4045) when you finish the book before the end of the month
Step 4: Preston will take everyone who finished the book out for coffee and discussion (his treat!)
Make sure your grab your copy at the VY Connection Table today!
~ Wednesday Afternoon ~
Homework and Hang Out
Join us every Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 in the Inlet (the old library turned college room) for our church-sponsored study hall! We'll bring the coffee, you bring the homework. If you're looking for a place to hang out with friends while getting your schoolwork done, especially after a day of doing it all online from home, don't miss the chance to meet up with friends for Homework and Hang Out!
~ Sunday Morning ~
Join us for a study of the major world religions as we learn what they believe, and compare and contrast their beliefs to our own. One of the most important parts of the Christian life is learning how to think Christian-ly, and part of that means learning about the world around us.
Class is from 10:00-10:45am in the Apex - Junior and Senior High welcome!
