Flu, Cold, & Corona Virus
With the Flu and Cold Season in full swing, we are trying to take precautions to keep down the spread of germs. At Miami we always try to promote hand washing and sanitizing throughout the day, but we do have to follow a few rules for the prevention of spreading these nasty bugs.
According to the Macomb County Health Department, students who are running a fever or vomiting must stay home for 24 hours after the symptoms have stopped. These steps will help the kids from being exposed during the most contagious stages of the bug.
Our district is always staying on top of all illnesses that are going around, including the corona virus. We also would like to give some helpful tips and help information on the corona virus to try and ease the communities worries about this virus.
- As always, we recommend everyone wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick. Parents, keep children home from school if they are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Here are some links to offer some more information on the corona virus.

Rest assured, we will continue to work with health officials to closely monitor the situation in our state and our local community. And, if necessary, we will adjust our procedures and our plans to protect the health and well-being of our students and our families.
If you have any questions, you can contact Mrs. Geri (Health Aide) 586-723-6000.
Dress for the Weather
Be sure your child has a warm jacket, gloves, boots, and a hat. The only exception is if it is raining or the temperature is below 32 degrees.
If you would like to leave a spare pare of clothes at school for your child, please put it in a plastic bag with their name, their teacher, and their grade and it will be kept in the office.

Medications at School
- Prescription medication, including inhalers, require both parent and doctor authorization and need to be in the original container.
- Any changes in dosage, frequency or type require a new medication form before the school can administer the medicine.
- Non-prescription medication should be in the original containers and require a parent to fill out a medication statement form. This includes all over the counter medication including pain relievers and cough drops.
Medication forms are available online or in the office. Any questions, please feel free to contact our Health Aide, Mrs. Geri, 586-723-6000.
