Message from the Vice-Director
Dear PCK Community,
Anyone else trying to figure out how it is already November? I am in a bit of disbelief that the first quarter of our school year is in the books. We have elementary trimesters wrapping up and our students are in full swing now. I am always mesmerized by the wonderful things our teachers and students are able to accomplish in these short time periods. Watching the progress of reading and writing in every grade, the mathematical skills that students are able to express, and the true transformation of character that I can see in our school, all prove that we have so much to be #PCKProud about.
I wanted to thank everyone who made the Halloween festivities last week such a fantastic event. Every aspect of our Halloween day went off so well, and it was thanks to everyone in our PCK community that volunteered their time to make that happen. This year’s Trunk-or-Treat cars were so creative and well done, and I know the kids had a blast seeing all of the creativity come to life. The Halloween parades were so much fun, and the younger kids got such a kick out of seeing the older students and their Character Service Buddies in attendance. And finally, thank you to all of those parents who volunteered their time to help with classroom parties. As I walked around to all of the classrooms, it was incredible to see the costumes and excitement on all of our students’ faces.
Next, I want to address some of the issues with carpool. Recently I have become aware of a number of issues that are happening during the afternoon carpool. The first thing that I want to remind all of our parents about is that we have the same mission; to pick up our children in a timely and safe manner. With that being said, we all need to make sure that we are following the guidelines set up at the beginning of the year for carpool. Below, you will find the carpool schedule. Please make sure that you are not arriving before your designated time slot.

One of the biggest problems we are having is that parents are arriving early and the carpool waves are being mixed together. Please know that if you arrive early, your students will not be outside waiting for you. We dismiss students out to carpool based on the designated times for pick up and those who arrive early cause delays when we have to call for your student. I am very aware that carpool is experiencing some struggles this year, but I want to work to make it better. Please make sure that you are doing your part by following the set guidelines. We will continue to evaluate this process and make changes as necessary.
Lastly, Election Day is almost upon us. I want to urge everyone to read up on all of the issues on the Douglas County ballot, but especially the 5A Mill Levy Override and the 5B Bond. Both of these ballot measures will have an impact on all schools in Douglas County. Please look at both of these measures and decide as a family how this will impact you. It is our civic duty as American citizens to get out and vote.
Stay warm and safe!
