National 9/11 Memorial
A 9/11 Memorial was built to remember everyone from this day. All the heros, civilians, everyone who survived, and everyone who has lost their lives due to this horrendous day. The memorial is built of the site of the old trade centers. Two reflecting pools stand in the footprints of the former WTC buildings. Each pool features a 30- foot- man- made waterfall, the largest in North America. The poops are bordered by bronze parapets that display the names of 2,983 victims of the 1993 and 2001 attacks. Each pool holds up to 450,000 gallons of water. This is enough to fill all the pipes in 50 Empire State Buildings to capacity. During the winter the water is heated to prevent freezing and replaced during the summer for evaporation. 400+ swamp white oak trees are planted on the plaza. Each tree came from within 500 mi. of NYC, including some from pennsylvania and Washington, DC, to honor the victims of flight 93 and the attack on the Pentagon. This took more than 2,500 workers on an average day.
