Hawk Happenings!

Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy

Message from the Principal - Aug. 23, 2018

Happy Thursday!

We are busy getting everything ready for school to start on Monday. Don’t forget to stop by the school tomorrow between 8 am and noon to drop off supplies and say hello to teachers and staff (if you have a chance). We would love to see you.

We also have the Back to School BBQ on Sunday from 1 - 3 pm. It will be out in front of the school...unless it rains (in which case we will move inside to the auditorium). We will provide burgers and hot dogs, but here is a list of what you can bring:

Last Names..........What to Bring

A - J Side Dishes

K - R Desserts

S - Z Drinks

Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets so that you can sit and enjoy the fun! We will also have a used uniform sale, so bring your cash and check out deals. It will be a lot of fun and it makes the kids less anxious for the First Day of School!

One last reminder...Monday is the first day of school and it is a NOON DISMISSAL with NO EXTENDED CARE. We are all so excited to see all of the kids and the families. It has been toooo long! See you Monday.

Blessings,

Katie Dempsey

Pre-K: New Electronic Attendance System (KinderSign)

This year, we will have a brand new attendance system for use with Pre-K. It is called KinderSign (app available through your App Store for free). This is a requirement from the US Federal Government. It will take a few minutes to set you up and train you to use the electronic system with us, so if you have an opportunity to come in on Friday, we would love to train you before school starts. It is as simple as creating an account for each Pre-K family, assigning a pin, and then scanning a QR code with either one of our IPads or your smart phone when you pick up or drop off your child(ren) each day. We thank you for your patience as we implement this new system. Once we all get the hang of it, things will be fast and painless! Again, this is only for Pre-K. It will be great to go paperless!

CYO Cross Country

Hello Cross Country Families,

It is almost CC time so I wanted to send out a little note to let you know a few things.

  • First, our first practice of the season has been changed to Wednesday, August 29th from 3:15-4 PM.
  • Second, we will hold a parents meeting on Tuesday, August 28th to discuss the season and the needs of the team this year. We will meet right after school at 3:15. Please make an effort to attend. If you can’t attend, I will try to send out a note of the pertinent information.
  • Third, please sign your child up with Berenice in the main office if they plan to participate. Sign up for CC will start today and will end on Monday, September 10th. The CYO fee for participation is only $5. New shirts will be ordered this year for everyone that is participating. Shirt cost should be under $15. The child’s last name is printed on the back of the shirt so please make sure you include the last name you wanted printed on the shirt.
  • Fourth, if you have a child in grades 4th-8th grades, please have them start running now! Three to four days a week is helpful with the goal that your child can run at least one mile continuously before the first practice.
  • Fifth, practices generally will be held Monday and Friday for kids in PK-3rd grade and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for kids in 4-8th grade. Practices will be immediately after school from 3-4 PM.
  • Sixth, Pre-K students must have a parent in attendance or another adult who can sign the child out of Pre-K for the day and then stay with the child at practice.

I am looking forward to another great year of Holy Rosary Cross Country! Go Hawks!
