Principal's Message

Just like that, we have made it through 3/4 of the school year! We have a busy 4th quarter, as usual, as we will start state assessments the week of April 3 for grades 3-5 and then MAP testing begins in May for all students. Please mark your calendars with your child's testing dates (see below) and help encourage your children to perform their best, just as we encourage each day for all students. Also, please try to avoid scheduling appointments on days of testing. Thank you!

From PTO: We are in need of volunteers to bring cookies and work the cookie table for the 1st/2nd grade music program on March 28. Please consider signing up. Just click this link and scroll to the bottom. Thank you!

May you all enjoy the best that spring break can bring!

Congratulations to our top 10 finalists!

As many of you know, each year we have picked a theme for the upcoming school year and then challenged our students to create a cover with that theme that is then used for the yearbook covers and Friday folders. It is great to see the many covers that are submitted! We are challenged to narrow it down to the top 10 with staff input and then students vote on the top winner of the 10 choices. Congratulations to all who submitted entries, top winners selected, and the winner, Henry, who will have his artwork on the covers of the 23-24 yearbooks and Friday folders!

TOP WINNER - Henry Billet!

Friday Friendly ELA Tip - Overview of Comprehension

In the next 8 weeks, we will be exploring reading comprehension strategies in order to UNDERSTAND what we are reading better. Here is an overview in visual form. Each week, we will showcase one of these strategies & include questions that adults can ask their kiddos while reading. Feel free to email Mrs. Kelly if you would like this resource at home! mkelly@usd458.org
